Stallion Boots

Stallion

As Far Western chic is in the dress codes for next summer, I wanted to show you the most authentic and fashionable addition to your look: the perfect cowboy boots.

Last week I met Pedro Muñoz, owner of Stallion Boots and Leather Goods. A handsome, smart and witty guy in his early fifties, part Native American and grown-up in Mexico, he started to build up a his company in El Paso, Texas in the beginning of the eighties.

His creations are special! Each pair is the result of many hours of skilled craftsmanship that lead to a perfect and extremely comfortable fit. Approximately 70 are produced per week with top-quality materials like alligator, crocodile, ostrich, lizard, stingray, various snakes, water buffalo  and calf leather. I am totally in love with their amazing patterns and colours.

My favourite ones are the Vintage Butterflies with their beautiful red, green and beige leather inlays, view to the top right below. Those boots definitely celebrate a sexy style that makes girls and boys go wild. At request, Stallion even offers custom designs and fittings.

Leap Year

Lepa Year

The new movie “Leap Year”  starring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode is hitting the cinemas today. The romantic comedy is about the Irish tradition that women may only propose to men in leap years on February 29th. It is believed this antiquated custom was started in 5th century  Ireland by the legendary St. Patrick.

In the movie, Anna (Amy Adams) is disappointed because her boyfriend does not ask the important question on their four-year anniversary. Therefore she wants to take matters into her own hands and follows him to Dublin to get down on one knee herself on Leap Day. But before that she has to face all sorts of problems as she is stranded on the other side of the Emerald Isle due to bad weather conditions. With the help of an innkeeper named Declan (Matthew Goode) she travels across the beautiful country and experiences that the road to love can be unexpected.

Lepa Year2

As I am really looking forward to seeing this movie, I got inspired to create an outfit for the perfect proposal in the Irish countryside. Wouldn`t Anna look awesome in this cute belted flower dress by Stella McCartney combined with the faux-fur cocoon shrug by Elizabeth and James to keep her warm?! As it can be really muddy, the adorable quilted wellingtons by Marc Jacobs would be a functional but stylish addition to this cute look. And last but not least who could resist her glamorous embroidered sequined clutch by Stella McCartney and the vintage Bulgari pieces? Me- definitely not!

Far Western Chic

Modern Cowgirl

Far Western chic is a must for next summer. Seen on the S/S 2010 runways were pretty cowgirls, pioneers of the prairies, lumberjack`s girlfriends and a new sort of trappers.

Especially D&G made a superb collection of versatile western references. The silhouettes were made of looks reminding me of Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau in the movie Viva Maria” or Penelope Cruz and Selma Hayek in the remake “Bandidas”. Denim, suede and eyelet were used – definite key elements for next season. But also Amerindian inspirations like navajo prints, lucky charms, feathers and tassels appeared along with stetsons, bandanas and broad belts. The inspirations and designs were numerous, only lassos and spurs were missing.

Denim Bandidas

Lumberjack`s plaid shirts were transformed into cocktail dresses and denim was pervasive in all sort of styles. Faded, worn out, mended mixed with cut-out suede, a sexy look that creates immediate seduction.

Come on, cowgirls, let`s go west!

Trend S/S 2010: Body Art

Body Art

Have you always dreamt of getting a tattoo but would never dare to do it? Now is the time to experience how it would be.

Body Art is an upcoming trend this summer. Fake tattoos or draw-on markings are fun and last until your next shower.

After the ink painted arms Rodarte showed in New York, Jean-Paul Gaultier was next to send his models with gothic graffiti-style messages down the runway. Karl Lagerfeld, the master of trendsetting, had Peter Phillips (Chanel`s art director of make-up) design stencils in shapes of the signature chains, logos, birds, pearls and blossoms for the Chanel S/S 2010 show. Those dainty prints that were hand drawn on the models added that fierce twist to the romantic look.

If painting seems too difficult, try some fun tattoos to order. Start experimenting! Remember, the only limit is your own creativity!

Trend S/S 2010: Focus on Legs

Focus on the Legs

The focus is on legs for summer, tons of mini skirts and hot pants paraded down the runways. According to the remarkable decrease in the length of the hemlines, the lower part of the body seemed to become the main attraction for decoration. Tights, along with other types of legwear like leggings, legwarmers or socks, made a sizzling fashion statement.

As nylons had always been a no-go in sandals, the trend of the open toe booties posed a real dilemma to me this winter especially that I hate cold feet. I am always admiring the French journalists during the fashion weeks showing-up effortlessly bare-legged whatever the weather. So honestly, I am curious if French ladies are going to adapt to the new trend. They have that nonchalant way of looking elegantly stylish that I truly so adore.

Socks

Fact is that there were also many Parisian designers like John Galliano for Christian Dior or Jean-Paul Gaultier who sent their models in sandals combined with sweet little socks down the runway.

Stockings

The photos give you a taste of what is to come. Do not be shocked by those, they might show the look in an extreme way. Get inspired by those tendencies and interpret them in your very own way. Remove taboos and stimulate your spirits!

Tied Up

Plus if you do not have those perfectly tanned marvellous legs, tights will be the perfect alternative to go mini. I am totally in love with those laced-up ones below from the Chanel S/S 2010 show. Wolford has a similiar version for sale on their website at the moment. Enjoy this young look!

Accessory Report S/S 2010: Around the Clog

Clogs

Another trend originally imposed by Hippies in the 70s celebrates its come back in a very chic way: Clogs! So many different luxury versions were seen, in linen, printed canvas (Miu Miu) or more sophisticated in suede (Louis Vuitton), some even with a Japanese attitude in studded leather (Céline).

Karl Lagerfeld`s sample for Chanel with wooden high heels is an amazing modern take on the Dutch classics and my favourite as I adore the touch of Bavarian folly very much! I cannot wait to hear the sound of clogs tapping on the asphalt of the streets waking up early summer.

Accessory Report S/S 2010: Eco-Chic

Rural Charm

Eco-Chic” is one of the keywords for next summer and hay fever seems to be a new tropical flu. Natural materials some even with a rough character to them were major on the runways.

At Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld manifested the ecological trend by sending his models carrying whicker baskets on their arms down the haystack aisle. He along with many other designers used raffia, woven cords and other faux-rustic fabrics for a variety of unexpected creations.

Hayfever

Since many years, Dolce & Gabbana have made the raffia tote one of their signature pieces for summer. This time in combination with another key material: lace.

Nothing confirms the hot season is close at hand like a giant straw bag or floppy hat. Loved by the Hippies in the 70s, those pieces are companions of longwearing resilience.

Let`s see when the raffia palm is branching out to you…!
