The PS1 Bag – A Fashionista’s Must

The PS1 bag was launched in 2008 as the first bag of the New York based designer duo Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough for their label Proenza Schouler (their mothers’ respective maiden names). Since then, it has been seen on the arms of the most fashionable people in the world. It comes in three different sizes, large, medium and as a clutch.

My own PS1 obsession!

My own PS1 obsession!

Its hype seems to have no end. Probably because it is a very practical and stylish bag in one. The medium and the large size have a handle and a detachable knotted shoulder strap, compartments at front, inside and at the back, plus a foldover flap with lock.

The favourite of editors, stylists and A-listers alike, Proenza Schouler’s satchel is a must-have style. Available among others at net-à-porter and Barneys.

For Resort 2011, the duo gave their bestseller a little make-over and called it the Weekender. It will be released in two different sizes medium and large.
Moreover the iconic PS1 will get a little sister: The Mini PS1 bag.

For this F/W 2011 Proenza Schouler introduced the PS11, the more structured take on the PS1, let’s say the sophisticated sister that will also be staying for Resort 2011.

My Look at the Stella McCartney Show

Thank you for all the lovely feedback on my recent coverage of my Paris Fashion Week’s highlights. Many of you were asking about my outfits, so please find herewith some detailed information.

At the Stella McCartney show, I wore a lot of her designs:
The cropped slouch-fit wool pants worked so well with the snake-print tank and the studded boyfriend blazer. The pale rose python scarf matched the top and gave a little hint of colour.
To finish off the look, I put on a felt hat by Dolce & Gabbana and my beloved stocking-detailed suede ankle boots by Givenchy for new-season cool. A very practical and stylish bag in one is the embroidered medium PS1 by Proenza Schouler.

Please stay tuned as I will give you more details on the must-have shoes and bags spotted at Paris Fashion Week soon.

So long, Happy Shopping!

Pascal Millet S/S 2011

Pascal Millet S:s 2011

Last week in Paris, I went to Pascal Millet’s showroom located beautifully near Notre-Dame with some stunning views of the Seine. His second collection in his own name for S/S 2011 is once more very couture, paying tribute to the Parisian chic. The designer was inspired by the work of Christopher Wool and Guy de Rougemont. The clothes were wonderfully displayed playing with fashion and art.

CIMG7692

CIMG7694CIMG7695

Structured pieces, of current elegance, of graphic poetry, in which the “Millet” touch is deeply imprinted. I love his rounded, fitted shoulders and the extraordinary hem details. The season’s ticket will be urban and sexy, announcing a sensual summer, colourful, with a delectable “gipsy” feel. For further information, please send an e-mail to .

An alluring encounter in the alleys of an Art Fair, see for yourself!

Dior Joins in the Nail Polish Hype

Ladies, time to go shopping! Tyen, Dior’s creative director for make-up, joins in the nail polish hype. Launching today is Dior’s new Haute Couleur varnish palette. There are 21 shades of gorgeousness with an amazing long-lasting and very shiny texture (CHF 37.-).

The new concept will always include a one shot coulour inspired by the runway collection.

For F/W 2010, Dior showed a blend of browns and black, leather, tweed and knitwear along with chiffons. So this time it will be Bronze Libertine, a deep brownish bronze with golden hints, which is complementing the look. Hurry, this is one of fall’s hottest nail shades!

I was very lucky to try the palette out before the official launch. The brush is much wider so it took me some time getting used to it. Once I had developped my new applying technique, it worked very well. The polish dries super-fast and the shine stays on forever. Use it with Dior’s top coat which is by the way the best one on the market!
Enjoy my favourite shades and the upcoming special edition for Christmas below.

On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs rounded off the S/S 2011 collections in more ways than one. For me, it was one of best shows. The catwalk was beautifully decorated with tiger statues. Amazingly embellished dresses in gorgeous bright colour combinations made out of flowing materials paraded the runway. Tropical flowers along with Japanese details and tiger stripes gave this collection an outstanding feel. The cuts were absolutely sexy with slit legs showing a lot of skin. This summer will be an expensive one if you like Vuitton.

Thumbs up, Marc, I am loving it!

Enjoy my photos before, during and after the show! I also got some amazing shots of amazing people. Hope that you will like it!

Edun & Louis Vuitton Celebrate Africa

Edun

Last night, I was invited to the vernissage of the exhibition Africa Rising and to celebrate the collaboration between Edun and Louis Vuitton.

Edun is the for-profit eco fashion label founded by Bono and his wife Ali Hewson on the premise of trade for aid as a means to alleviate poverty through sustainable employment and growth. Since 2009, LMVH acquired a 49% stake in the company in order to promote the brand’s vision.

The collection shows flair and individuality whilst remaining on-trend. I like the printed silk tanks and flowing materials. Shopping for a good cause! Available at net-à-porter or visit the Edun homepage for more information.

9a7d2b52In Louis Vuitton’s recent Core Values advertising campaign, both Ali and Bono wear Edun clothing. Ali carries the Louis Vuitton/Edun collaboration bag:
The Keepall 45 Monogram Révélation in brown leather with the beautiful handmade Charm Massai in natural bones. Also attached is a plaque reminding us “Every journey began in Africa”.

CIMG7724

There were lots of celebrities at yesterday’s party enjoying the beautiful contemporary art exhibition that showcased African art from Jean Pigozzi’s collection (CAAC).
If you are interested, the contemporary art exhibition will be on display to the public from October 6th to 18th 2010 at 1, Rue du Pont Neuf in Paris.

Pharell Williams at Stella’s After Party

Pharell Williams for LV

Pharell Williams is a genius, a multifaceted musician-artist-entrepreneur in one.  So no wonder that companies like Moncler or Louis Vuitton have been branching out to collaborate with the rapper for some very special editions.

Pharell who is addicted to sparkles was called to create some bling bling for Louis Vuitton with Camille Miceli (who was Jewelry and Creative designer at this time, now she is at Dior) in 2008. The beautiful Blason collection (see above) revisits the idea of aristrocracy and is still sold in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide.

The F/W 2010 down vests and jackets for the new Moncler V line (see below) are reminding me of bullet-proof vests, very cool. They are made of Bionic yarn, which is produced by Pharell’s textile company. Available at Restir or Moncler.

Pharell Williams for Moncler

Last night, Pharell Williams performed at Stella McCartney’s After Party that was held at Don Camilo, a cabaret/ night club in the 7th arrondissement. It was amazing! Here are some impressions, enjoy!

A-K-R-I-S- – Fashion Made in Switzerland

Albert Kriemler with me at the A-K-R-I-S- cocktail reception yesterday.

Albert Kriemler with me at the A-K-R-I-S- cocktail reception yesterday.

On Sunday afternoon on my flight to Paris, I had quite a fancy seat neighbour: Courtney Love who drove the complete staff crazy and delayed the take off.
I was eager to arrive in time as I could not make it to the Akris show in the morning and wanted to join Albert Kriemler for his cocktail reception in the evening at the Café de L’Epoque.

Akris is Switzerland’s fashion flagship brand, known for its craftsmanship, high-quality materials and understated luxury. The Swiss brand has written already over 80 years of history. Founded by the Kriemler’s grandmother to produce aprons in the 20s, followed by his father in the 40s who built Akris into a couture house and finally in the hands of Albert Kriemler and his brother since the 80s.

I have to admit that the Akris style used to be a touch conservative for me personally. But this has changed latest with the F/W 2010 collection which was absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous colours, well tailored pieces with a sensual 70s vibe, that were flattering, modern and feminine in one. A wind of change has been blowing with Daphne Guinness as the face of the last two advertising campaigns.
In the beginning of the year, Akris launched its debut bag collection, a must-have for the more discerning of women who appreciates quality, is not so much into an It-bag and tired of the Hermès camp.

Kriemler’s S/S 2011 collection is perhaps his best so far. The colours, the sharpness of cuts along with some bold blooms have laid the foundation for a much younger fan club that will love the little short jumpsuit and cool jackets. Enjoy!

Available for example in the US at Saks, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and in Zurich at Gassmann. For more information, please visit the Akris homepage.

Today at Stella McCartney’s S/S 2011 Show

Key to heaven: The invitation to the show

Key to heaven: My invitation to the Stella's S/S 2011 show

CIMG7647I am in Paris for the Fashion Week at the moment.

This morning, I went to see Stella McCartneys S/S 2011 show which I have absolutely loved.

Me before the show

Me before the show

The first looks were iconic, confidently masculine tailored in fresh pastels. Further on, Stella tried a new take on denim and gave it a modern feel by playing with proportion and volume. My absolute favourites were the printed long silk dresses with box pleats and slit legs. Understated seduction in perfection.

Another must-have is definitely the sleeveless trench coat. If you like it bold, you will adore the symmetric botanical citrus prints. Everyone can find something in this collection, very versatile with signature looks and a new foray into sexiness.

Enjoy all my impressions, the celebrities, famous stylists, and for sure all the beautiful new looks for next summer. As you see, I had a blast.

LoL, Sandra
