My Look: Pure Floral Energy

Pure Floral Energy

Energy is the essence of life. Every day you decide how you’re going to use it by knowing what you want and what it takes to reach that goal, and by maintaining focus.Oprah Winfrey

This look is inspired by the More Than a Feeling with Swarovski contest, an outfit that bursts with floral energy finished off with Prada’s super-hot summer accessories.

Floral-print devoré stretch-jersey top iconand matching ruched silk skirt, both by Nina Ricci, cadillac clutch, sandals with flame detail and jewel detail, earrings, bracelet, hair pin and statement necklace, all by Prada.

More Than a Feeling with Swarovski Contest

Swarovski-More-Than-A-Feeling

Meet my new friend Little Energy, one of the newest residents of LovLots City by Swarovski. The quirky and unique Emotis spread vibrant feelings through the air. This is your chance to win your own figurine. I am very proud to be the hostess for the More Than a Feeling contest in collaboration with Polyvore and Swarovski. Good luck to win the sweetest little man in the world. Just click on the highlighted text to be transferred to the competition. I’ll be looking through all of the entries and judging the winner, so I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

To inspire you a little, I will show you some of my recent adventures with Little Energy. Last month, when I went on my crazy road trip through the US, I got this cute companion in San Francisco. With his little cloud and lightning on his head, he was the perfect little mojo to take care of me. Seems to be necessary after I had hit that horrible hail storm during my trip. As you see, Energy and I had a lot of fun together. Hopefully, you will meet him soon…

So I took him to Hawaii and up to the top of the volcano Haleakalā. Little Energy was deeply impressed by the silversword plants that only grow there.

Maui Ocean

Of course, he wanted to go swimming and relaxed at the pool or in the Missoni cabanas of the Four Seasons Hotel Maui at Wailea.

When we arrived in Dallas, Texas, he wanted to have tea time at American Girl Place, get a manicure, brush his teeth and sleep a little. Energy has so much energy that he barely rest. It is hard to keep up with him.

Highland Park

Then I challenged him and took him on a  shopping spree at the Highland Park Village, the premier shopping destination of Dallas. Our favourite, of course Stella McCartney.

Fort Worth

Being in Texas, we had to see a rodeo, cowboys and Fort Worth, the city that truly captures the Western spirit well.

And of course, Southfork Ranch, the famous filming location for the „Dallas“ television series that was popular in the `80s and has been continued this year.

Back in Switzerland, he found his space on my desk. Little Energy likes to watch me at work and tries to inspire me, as for example for one of my recent outfits. He finds the Prada flame heels so energizing. Don’t forget to join the competition that will end on August 9, 2012 at 11.59pm EST.

Bye-Bye Anna – R.I.P. Silvia Seidel

Anna-Silvia-seidel

My German speaking readers will know what I am talking about. Silvia Seidel was an icon. In 1986, she played the role of Anna in the eponymous television series, followed by a motion picture in 1987, a young ballerina who finds herself paralyzed after a car accident, and afterwards learns how to walk and dance again. Because of her, ballet schools in Germany were flooded with little ballerinas. Personally speaking, she had absolutely inspired me to follow my love for dancing to that day. The dress codes were all pink, ballet slippers and tutus.

Tonight, I heard that she killed herself last week at the age of 42. I am shocked and devastated at the tragic loss of such an inspirational, extraordinary talent that unfortunately had the peak of her career at a too young age.

Rest in Peace, Silvia and thank you for the inspiration!

My Look: Shopping in Dallas

Dallas Shopping 2

I still owe you my photos from Texas, which was the last stop of my road trip through the US. The first day in Dallas, I went shopping at the Highland Park Village, which is an upscale shopping mall and the home of brands like Chanel, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin among others. It was the first self-contained shopping center in America and therefore declared a National Historic Landmark in 2000.

My look: Two-tone stretch-jersey contour dress and cuff by Stella McCartneybowtie pasta and cameo clip earrings iconby Dolce & Gabbana, coral shape heels by Chanel, Audrey wayfarer sunglasses by Céline and Pandora bag by Givenchy.
On my nails: “Today Was A Fairytale” with Virgin Diamond Powder by Deborah Lippmann.

It was very funny to see my new two-tone dress in Stella McCartney‘s window and later inside.

Your favourite city in the world:
LONDON

Serge Lutens – Santal Majuscule

Serge Lutens Santal Majuscule

Winter 1952. That night, just before dawn, it snowed. A boy, with his collar folded up to protect his neck, headed on his way to school. A thin white veil slipped beneath his feet and swirled around him, cloaking his mouth and the muffled words: “I’m going to be late!”

This is the start of the press release, a poetic essay about a young school boy, who fills his notebooks with drawings of flowers and dragons, who is reprimanded by his schoolteacher for taking great delight in decorating the words in his sentences with embellished capital letters (“majuscules” in French) and who is fascinated by Medieval legends. The boy, it’s Serge Lutens. And the word “Santal” on the bottle is capitalized.

Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf

Spicebomb

“After creating Flowerbomb, we felt a twinge of jealousy: why aren’t we allowed our own bomb?” – Viktor & Rolf

In 2005, Viktor & Rolf launched its first bomb: a profusion of flowers in an excessively sensual fragrance for women… Created by famous perfumer Olivier Polge, the Flowerbomb legend was born. This September, men will have their turn.

VIKTOR&ROLF_SPICEBOMB_INGREDIENTS

Spicebomb, an explosion of the senses

Instant olfactory detonation. Viktor & Rolf is once again overturning convention with the help of Olivier Polge and revealing a fragrance that makes no concessions. An explosive concentrate of masculine sensuality. Surprising at first breath, its spices addictive from the very next second…

Top Notes: Chili, saffron, leather, tobacco and vetiver
Middle Notes: Bergamot and grapefruit
Base Notes: Elemi and pink pepper

Spicebomb

Long-standing collaborators of Viktor & Rolf, the photographers Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin created a visual campaign for Spicebomb that makes an instant impression.

The American model Sean O’Pry is in the line of sight: a mysterious, almost iconic beauty. Classic, but sexy. Virile, but sensual. What a feast for the eyes, ladies!

VIKTOR&ROLF_SPICEBOMB_50ML&90ML

Just looking at the bottle you know that something is about to… go boom!

A tailor-made grenade revisited for a fragrance with an explosive scent. A chic and sophisticated weapon, given a twist with the arty touch that characterizes Viktor & Rolf. The ultimate detail: the fragrance is released by priming the pin.

Closed Denim Lounge in L.A.

Denim Lounge

Five years ago, Sue Giers, PR Director of Closed, had a spontaneous idea while vacationing in L.A.: Why not introduce Closed to the US ?

Together with a friend, American socialite Stephanie Salay, she considered organizing a “denim bar” in Los Angeles. Giers and Salay soon implemented their idea, put up a clothesline in a suite of the infamous Chateau Marmont, hung-up the different Closed highlight styles, and invited L.A.’s fashion community. Stylists, stars and starlets dropped all to discover the new brand from Germany. Perhaps it was precisely the unusual and the lack of perfection that the Americans liked so much… Or maybe they were impressed by the now more than 30-year history of the brand. The first denim bar was not just a success in L.A., but it also produced a lasting effect. Photos of celebrities wearing Closed have been published continuously since then

Brad PittBrad Pitt wearing the Clifton Chinos.

SPL130519_004Sarah Jessica Parker at the set of Sex and the City in a custom-made pair of Pedal Pusher.

For the second time the simple indoor clothesline was swapped for a showroom at the famous Margaret Maldonado Agency in Melrose Place. There was even a blog with all the “real time” news for those who could not come personally.

This summer for the third time the temporary store will go back to its origins and reside at the famous Chateau Marmont for two days, August 14th and 15th.
The ‘must have’ F/W 2012 Closed pieces will be presented to the L.A. fashion society during those days. These styles were selected from well-known US retailers such as Ron Herman, American Rag, Traffic, Fred Segal Trend, Elyse Walker, and Stacey Todd.

Follow Closed on Twitter or Facebook during the Denim-lounge at Chateau Marmont. The host Sue Giers will keep you updated.

Here is my personal craving from the Closed F/W 2012 collection.
