My Look: Winter Wonderland

Finally, the weather in Gstaad got colder and I saw the drops of snow falling, so it was time to cuddle up on top of the mountain in this warm, winter wonderland inspired, layered outfit.

My look: Floral oversized down jacket by Balenciaga, reversible intarsia wool-blend and jacquard jacket by Etroicon, wool turtleneck bodysuit by Alaïa, printed low-rise skinny jeans by Givenchy, embroidered brocade drawstring backpack and studded wool-silk shawlicon, both by Gucci, Croco Tail sunglasses by Fendi, and black fur snow boots by Prada Linea Rossa.

The Top 15 Runway Trends for S/S 2019

Just as you were all getting comfortable with your winter wardrobes and rediscovering the art of layering, the close of 2018 has got some of us thinking about our 2019 wardrobe. From bike shorts with blazers to head-to-toe bleached denim and scuba materials, these are the top runway trends from the S/S 2019 fashion weeks.

LoL, Sandra

There is a reason why Pantone announced it the color of the year 2019.

California on your mind? Then go for all that zesty tie dye and those endless wetsuits.

Lace sliced and diced, that is what the new season is about.

70’s crochet, fishnet fabrics and beaded macramé, a crafty theme swept through the summer collections.

The easiest way to energise your wardrobe? Take your tailoring in vibrant citrusy shades.

Decorate your looks with a supersized bow and take the streets with more fanfare than a trumpet.

One trend from the ’90s that I was convinced I would never see again… sorry, my fault! Cycling shorts are back!

Very beautiful! The designers used pleating to create a truly haute-couture silhouette.

It is a fact, the Eighties just won’t go away. This season, it is the acid wash denim that caught my eye.

My ‘it’ item of the season! An all-in-one suit is now your go-to wardrobe solution.

Next season’s partywear diktat is as frou-frou as they come: just add feathers and fringe.

Classy polka dots the transparent way, good girls gone bad!

Live up to the era of the hippie! Rock star and bohemian touches are still found everywhere.

This summer, you’re not fully dressed without a head piece that becomes part of your floral explosions. Wall flowers need not apply.

Have sequins ever ‘not’ been on trend? Perhaps not, but they were so prevalent at the S/S 2019 shows that we can’t ignore them. Personally speaking, I love the take of these designers above that love to work in general with the sparkling fabric. Those looks seem fresh and modern.

My Look: Crucial

In my opinion, mixing and matching is crucial to a fashionable look. One night at the Gstaad Palace, I went for acid yellow, leopard print and check – all in one! I hope you like it as much as I do.

My look: Leopard-print calf hair and checked twill jacket, and ruffled leopard-print silk-georgette wrap maxi dress, both by Diane von Furstenbergicon, Cassandre small suede shoulder bag by Saint Laurent, leather-trimmed printed velvet belticon by Fendi, and riding boots by GucciSatin Touch 20 denier stay-up stockings by Wolford.

Golden Globes 2019 Best Dressed

Last night, the 76th annual Golden Globes took place in Los Angeles. Many winners in different categories but what truly interests us fashion lovers is who won on the red carpet as here the drama takes it all.

Lady Gaga, who unfortunately didn’t win «Best Actress in a Drama» for her role in «A Star Is Born», was definitely the winner in terms of fashion in this lavender Valentino Haute Couture gown with a colour matching hairstyle.

Channeling a bit of Old Hollywood glamour, the dress evoked a look Judy Garland wore as the star in the 1954 version of the movie. But one award went to Lady Gaga, the 32-year-old accepted «Best Original Song» for her work on the movie’s hit «Shallow».

Valentino F/W 2018 Haute Couture Look 60

The style was first shown on the Maison’s F/W 2018 Couture runway. Pierpaolo Piccioli adapted the look to Lady Gaga.

Around her neck, a blinding $5 million diamond necklace by Tiffany & Co. shined.

Here are my personal other winners on the red carpet:

Gemma Chan in Valentino Haute Couture

Lupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein by Appointment and Bulgari jewelry

Kiki Layne in Dior Haute Couture and Bulgari jewels.

Constance Wu in Vera Wang

Sofia Carson in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture

Rosamunde Pike in Givenchy Haute Couture

Emily Blunt in custom Alexander McQueen

Janelle Monáe in Chanel

Nicole Kidman in Michael Kors Collection

Have a great start into the week!

Beat the Afternoon Slump

During the winter months, I often feel super-tired once the afternoon rolls around. After powering through the morning with productivity, the wall hits me in the afternoon. Putting my head on my desk and taking a quick nap is suddenly very appealing. Nope, no such luck!

It doesn’t mean that you are sick, feeling kind of sleepy during the second part of the day is human nature. People naturally experience dips in energy levels because of circadian rhythms.

As I don’t want to drink too much caffeine (I have already lots in the morning…), I have been looking for an alternative to give me a boost of energy during an afternoon slump. The Nue Co.’s ‘Power Up’ supplementicon is a natural caffeine hit that’s blended with Brazilian Guarana Seeds – «an espresso minus the jitters,» says the brand. It’s formulated with Goji Berry to aid digestion and organic Maca for high endurance. I can truly recommend it.

My Look: Wasserngrat Lunch

A must-do while visiting Gstaad is having lunch at Wasserngrat Restaurant on a beautiful sunny day. It is always Saturday’s highlight during the ASW Winter Weekend in December. Once you are on the sun deck, you will understand the Swiss ski resort’s slogan: «Come up and slow down».

My look: White mink coat with floral intarsia, intarsia jacquard flowers cardiganicon, and rose print silk shirt, all by Guccipaneled leather and jersey leggings by Givenchyicon, vintage white mink ear muffs and 2.55 quilted bag with attached hanger, both by Chanel, fur snow boots by Prada Linea Rossa, white leather gloves by Prada and Audrey wayfarer sunglasses by Céline.

Cinderella Slippers

«One shoe can change your life.» – Cinderella

A must for 2019 – live the modern fairytale with these pumps that reference the fragility of Cinderella’s glass slippers in a contemporary context. They’re crafted with a high heel and flattering point toe, then made of or at least covered with PVC for protection from the wear and tear of a night on the dancefloor – a striking statement on freeing women from constraints.
