Zimmermann S/S 2021: Wild Botanica

Personally speaking, one of my favorite S/S 2021 collections is ZIMMERMANN titled «Wild Botanica». Inspired by Nicky Zimmermann‘s native flora and fauna of her home country, Australia, the designer translated these references into bold floral and bird prints and playful 3D flower and butterfly appliqués. Furthermore, she looked at the turn-of-the-century artwork of painter and explorer Ellis Rowan.

Inspiration behind the Zimmermann collection: Australian artist and botanical illustrator Ellis Rowan (1848 – 1922).

Favorite looks from the Zimmermann S/S 2021 runway.

Breezy dresses, stunning shorts and vibrant blouses set the scene for sunny romance. The long gowns with butterfly embroidery or the billowing floral waterfalls in the back stood out for their interesting textures for me.

On Mother’s Day I wore the amazing Botanica wattle-print linen-blend organza dressicon that was the first Zimmermann S/S 2021 runway look. The outfit post will be coming up tomorrow.

Liya Kebede stars in the S/S 2021 campaign. In front of Benny Horne‘s lens, she poses on location in St. Barths. A picturesque setting complements dreamy silhouettes as well as painterly prints.

You can shop the beautiful S/S 2021 collection at NET-À-PORTER, MATCHESFASHION and MYTHERESA.

Such beautiful butterfly applications on my Botanica floral linen-blend organza maxi dress. This outfit post will also coming up shortly.

Say Sì for Mother’s Day

Your mum, your muse. My daughter, my muse. Anouk has been using Armani Sì Eau de Parfum since a long time. It is the fragrance I associate with her. Therefore, we loved the idea to collaborate with Armani Beauty for Mother’s Day to celebrate the launch of the new Sì EDP Intense.

My choice: The new Sì Eau de Parfum Intense

Sì Eau de Parfum Intense encapsulates the confident energy and modern femininity that characterizes the Sì woman. The fragrance’s signature is blackcurrant nectar, with this alluring note extracted from the heart of the fruit. In addition Ispartarose, harvested in Ispartaa region of Turkey known as «the city of roses», mingles with the velvety and liquorous davana. Together, these two notes create a fiercely intense effect. Finally, patchouli and benzoin resin lend an enveloping sensation. At the same time intense, voluptuous and sophisticated, Sì Eau de Parfum Intense, a chypré oriental, unveils each woman’s most intense side.

Anouk’s choice: The classic Sì Eau de Parfum

Both bottles come with the beautiful glossy black, stone-shaped cap that is a signature of Giorgio Armani fragrances, while sleek gold rings around the bottle’s neck and at its base lend a glamorous touch. Perfect for your bathroom display.

Happy Mother’s Day! To shop the fragrances, click here please.

My Look: Classy and Fabulous

Classy and fabulous – this is how I feel in SAINT LAURENT. After this week’s IG Live Beauty Talk for Mother’s Day with Yves Saint Laurent Beauty (owned by L’Oréal, which holds exclusive licenses for the name), this post is an other homage to the French Maison. Shot at the Zaha Hadid exhibition at Galerie Gmurzynska – I am wearing pieces from the brand’s beautiful Resort 2021 and S/S 2021 collections.

SAINT LAURENT, that is today owned by the Kering Group, is one of the most iconic brands of the 20th Century. Founded by legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé in 1961, it quickly revolutionized the way fashion and society intertwine with the launch of its iconic «Rive Gauche» collection just five years later, becoming the first couture house to launch ready-to-wear. Today, Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello, who was appointed in April 2016 after Hedi Slimane left the company, continues to honor the label’s trailblazing spirit with his empowering, dynamic and boundary-pushing designs.

My look: Two-tone ribbed wool jacketicon, pussy-bow ruffled silk crepe de chine blouseicon, cotton-blend satin shortsicon, Jodie rose-embellished white leather platform sandalsicon, Cassandra medium YSL-plaque dark green leather cross-body bagicongold-tone, enamel and faux pearl clip earrings, all by Saint LaurentJUSTE UN CLOU bracelet in rose gold with diamonds by Cartier, and Carrera Automatic Chronograph by TAG Heuer.

IG Live YSL Beauty: Mother’s Day Special

Don’t miss today’s IG Live Beauty Talk «Mother’s Day Special» on my account @sandrascloset at 6.30 pm CET. I will go live with YSL Beauty National Makeup Artist UK Fred Letailleur @fredletailleur. With his expertise, I will create a fresh make-up look only with my fingers, will apply some lifting techniques, with the new YSL Beauty S/S 2021 makeup products on my daughter Anouk who is back from Boston for a few months. Best Mother’s Day gift ever!

Fred Letailleur

It has been a crazy morning so far, as the live talk was supposed to be with the YSL Beauty National Makeup Artist Switzerland Abdel Zouitina @abdel.zouitina. Unfortunately, Abdel woke up sick and Fred jumped in to help. We had a lovely morning training and I can promise you, the beauty talk is worth watching. He has been with YSL Beauty for 9 years and has been working in the beauty industry for over 23 years. His work was featured in international fashion magazines such as Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Instyle, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and he created the makeup looks for celebrities such as Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dun, Kim Cattral, Sadie Frost, Eva Herzigova, Mischa Barton, Patricia Arquette , Ines de la Fressange, Catherine Deneuve, just to name a few.

«YSL Beauty is truly about beauty empowerment. It’s embracing all forms of beauty from natural, understated beauty to setting a more contrasted statement. It just merges perfectly the aspect of creativity with luxury. Yves Saint Laurent was always inspired by art as a form of inspiration. Like him, I always like to push it a little further to challenge beauty while respecting at the same time the natural beauty of a woman’s features.» – Fred Letailleur

Here is a summary of the products we use. To shop the products, just click on the highlighted product description. I am sure your mother would be delighted to receive such a gift.

The new S/S 2021 YSL Beauty makeup look is called POPPIN’ FRESH and features pastel and milky shades inspired by ice-cream colors. Playful hues perfect to start the warm weather season.

FACE & EYE PALETTE COLLECTOR
This limited edition palette is the perfect make-up accessory for summer. Reminiscent of a Saint Laurent clutch bag, it features 10 shades that can be used to dress the eyes.
Use the trendy pale rosy purple and silver shades as highlighters to bring light to the face and eyes.
Use the beige, soft pink, and rosy pink shades as blush to sculpt the face.

TOUCHE ÉCLAT
The iconic illuminating pen for over 25 years. It is 8 hours of beauty sleep in one click.
To illuminate, apply to the upper area of the cheekbones and the top of the brow bone. Create a three-dimensional effect by highlighting the bridge of the nose and adding a radiant touch to the middle of the forehead. Lightly trace the contours of the lips to define their shape and create the illusion of volume.
To remove shadows, draw a line over the smile lines to create a radiant light and smooth skin effect. You can also apply it under the eyes and along their inner corner to remove eye area shadows.

MASCARA VOLUME EFFET FAUX CILS THE CURLER
Say bye-bye to your lash curler. This amazing mascara features a bi-material brush to volumize, lift, curl and define your lashes.
1. Volumize with fiber brush
Using the black bristles on the concave side with the loaded reservoir, apply the mascara from the base of the lashes to the tip.
2. Lift & define with the elastomer comb
Using the pink comb, push the lashes upward at the base and holding for a moment before combing upwards to separate and lengthen.

ROUGE VOLUPTÉ SHINE
143 Chill Toffee
and 144 Peachy Light
Melting shine with fresh and vibrant color.
Apply directly on the lips for a moment of pure pleasure. Dab the color instead of applying it in one stroke for a super natural and plumbing effect. You can add several layers to intensify the color.

LIBRE EAU DE TOILETTE
The final touch to the new summer look is a spritz of the newly launched Libre Eau de Toilette by Yves Saint Laurent, a floral fragrance created by Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim.
Top notes: Lavender, Mandarin Orange and Bergamot
Middle notes: Orange Blossom, Jasmine Tea and Jasmine
Base notes: Musk, Vanilla and Ambergris.

See you in a few hours at 6.30 pm CET on IG Live!

I always loved playing dress up with Anouk when she was little. So for me, it is the best Mother’s Day treat to do her makeup again, this time of course in a more refined way. Hope that you will enjoy our session.

LoL, Sandra

Galerie Gmurzynska’s Homage to Zaha Hadid

Dame Zaha Hadid passed away in Miami on March 31, 2016 at the age of 65. On the 5th anniversary of her death, Galerie Gmurzynska presents an immersive homage to the visionary architect.

The Great Utopia, The Russian and Soviet Avant-Garde, 1915, 1932, 1992, © Galerie Gmurzynska

The shared interests between the gallery and Zaha Hadid for the Russian avant-garde fortuitously crossed paths in 1992 at the monumental exhibition «The Great Utopia,» at the Guggenheim Museum for which Zaha Hadid designed the rotunda – the first architect tasked with reimagining the Frank Lloyd Wright architectural icon. From early in her career, her peerless aesthetic was deeply inspired by Kazimir Malevich and the Suprematists, on whom she prepared her graduation thesis in 1976.

Zaha Hadid and Suprematism installation at Galerie Gmurzynska in 2010 (click here for a previous post).

The gallery’s active collaboration with Zaha Hadid from 2010 until her death began with the idea to again combine her knowledge of the Russian avant-garde with her architectural practice, which had advanced deeper since the Guggenheim exhibition. Thus, in 2010, the exhibition «Zaha Hadid and Suprematism» was held at Galerie Gmurzynska’s headquarters on Paradeplatz in Zurich. The exhibition and book, published together with Hatje Cantz, became a global event. This first collaboration with Zaha was followed by many other exhibition projects, including at Art Basel.

With Zaha Hadid in 2012 during a dinner at Art Basel when she signed the book for me (for the post click here).

On the occasion of the important Malevich retrospective held in 2014 at Tate London the star architect was asked to take part in a long documentary about Malevich with the BBC. Part of this documentary included an interview with Galerie Gmurzynska CEO Mathias Rastorfer and Zaha Hadid about Malevich and the nature of architecture and art.

The final project completely planned by Zaha Hadid was again to show the dramatic development of her architecture in the context of another foundational modern master: Kurt Schwitters. The exhibition architecture was planned entirely by Hadid, and the selection of works by Schwitters was as well rigorously curated by her. Hadid unfortunately died before the opening of the show and left behind an architectural monument remaining unchanged in the Galerie Gmurzynska on Paradeplatz, open to the public.

The latest exhibition at Galerie Gmurzynska titled «Abstracting The Landscape» was conceived and created with the same team with whom the gallery planned and executed all Zaha Hadid exhibitions since 2010. It has been a fruitful and euphoric collaboration for all involved, for which Galerie Gmurzynska expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the entire Zaha Hadid design and archive team. In this spirit of long-term collaboration and the highest respect for her perpetual vision, historical projects with models and drawings, as well as sculptural objects realized since her passing have been individually selected to be integrated into a custom floor design displaying Hadid’s best traits. The exhibition also features site-specific objects, as well as never-before exhibited designs. It will be open until July 31, 2021.

I was able to shoot different looks inside the exhibition which presented me with an amazing backdrop. Stay tuned for all the posts coming up soon…

LoL, Sandra

Two Different Colored Shoes Day

Today, on May 3rd, we celebrate Two Different Colored Shoes Day. Probably you have never heard of that special day before that is set to recognize and celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of humanity. Where the simple and lighthearted act of purposely wearing two different colored shoes demonstrates the courage to «take a risk» and step outside of ones daily routine.

A daring combination: 105 crystal-embellished metallic leather sandals by Gianvito Rossi andicon Moon 105 crystal-embellished leather sandals by Aquazzura.
icon

The easiest way to do it is to combine two shoes that have the same height and a similar structure. If you are one of those people, who likes to buy your favorite pair of shoes in different colors, you will have a blast mixing your footwear.

A safe way to celebrate Two Different Colored Shoes Day is to mix neutral shades and the same shoe model as those Kate 100 leather pumps by Christian Louboutin.
icon

The day was created by Dr. Arlene Kaiser, an educator and public speaker, who has a profound love for diversity and has always been encouraging people to be who they are and not to concern themselves with being what society tells them they should be.

I wear today Jodie suede platform sandals in black and  Jodie rose-embellished white leather platform sandalsicon, both by Saint Laurent.

Remember that Two Different Colored Shoes Day is about celebrating your individuality, so wear whatever you love, and enjoy your own fashionable creativity. The world can use a little more color, and there’s nothing wrong with everyone being as diverse and as different as they are.

A Bespoke Rolls-Royce Phantom with Hermès

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has co-created a magnificent Bespoke Phantom in a unique collaboration with Hermès. Designed and handcrafted by a combined team of Bespoke specialists at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood, West Sussex, and Hermès in Paris, Phantom Oribe reflects the personality and passions of its owner, Japanese entrepreneur and art collector Yusaku Maezawa, who envisioned the car as a «land jet», bringing the serene exclusivity of private air travel to the road.

Yusaku Maezawa

The car’s striking two-tone exterior matches the characteristic green and cream glazes of antique Japanese Oribe ware, of which Maezawa-san is a prominent collector. The upper part is finished in Oribe Green, a fully Bespoke colour created exclusively for the client; in an unusual move, Rolls-Royce has made the paint available for use on the client’s private jet the Phantom will be paired with. Developed over many months by specialists in the Surface Finish Centre at Goodwood, it perfectly captures the lustrous, deep-green glaze that characterises these 16th century ceramics. The effect is beautifully completed by the cream-white lower section.

The Oribe ware-inspired colourway harmoniously continues through the interior, created and realised through a true meeting of minds between Hermès designers and craftspeople, and the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective of designers, engineers and craftspeople. Together, they applied their shared expertise and ingenuity to ensure every individual component embodies the finest traditions of both houses.

The interior is finished predominantly in Hermès Enea Green leather, extending to details that include the immediate touch-points of the client; for example, the steering wheel, duchess handles, gear selector and the rotary controls for the motor car’s climate settings.

The Hermès leather flows around the upper instrument panel, interior pillars and parcel shelf. It also enrobes less visible surfaces including the glove compartment and luggage compartment lining, centre console, decanter stowage compartment and Champagne cooler. In a sign of the project’s truly collaborative nature, and the two makers’ mutual esteem, the glove compartment lid is embossed with the signature Habillé par Hermès Paris.

Delicate Hermès piping adorns the headrest cushions and calf supports of the rear seats, while soft Seashell White accents and matching lambswool floor mats create a sense of light and space throughout.

The interior is also replete with examples of Rolls-Royce Bespoke design and handcraftsmanship. Wooden speaker frets, for example, are formed by meticulously perforating the Open Pore Royal Walnut veneer applied to the doors, creating a seamless, textured aesthetic and delicate haptics. Open Pore Royal Walnut is additionally applied to the centre and rear consoles and picnic table backs; in another first for Rolls-Royce, the interior features Hermès «Toile H» canvas on the door armrests, centre and rear consoles and, most notably, the signature headliner.

Hermès brings its distinctive equestrian heritage and innovative craftsmanship know-how to the car, with the leather upholstery created using stitching and edge-painting techniques originally employed by master saddlers. For Phantom’s Gallery, a feature unique to Rolls-Royce, that runs the length of the motor car’s fascia, Hermès commissioned an artwork based on a design by the celebrated French artist and illustrator Pierre Péron (1905–1988) who created many of the House’s iconic scarves. The work, inspired by the famous Hermès horse motif, is hand-painted on Open Pore Royal Walnut and is presented as though staged in an art gallery, behind glass.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös added, «This majestic and tasteful Rolls-Royce Phantom demonstrates what is possible when talented people from two of the world’s great houses work closely together alongside a far-sighted, inspirational client like Maezawa-san. It is a meeting of minds, expertise, visions and skill that represents the very best of our respective craftspeople and capabilities

I am speechless. What a beauty! Bravo!

LoL, Sandra
