Launch Event of Hublot x DJ Snake in Paris

Last month, I had the absolute pleasure to fly to Paris with Hublot for the launch event of the House’s collaboration with DJ Snake, who has such a huge presence in today’s musical landscape that he needs no introduction. The electronic music star first came to public attention with the track «Turn Down For What», released in 2013. Since then, the hits have racked up: «Lean On», «Loco Contigo», «Let Me Love You» with Justin Bieber, and «Selfish Love» with Selena Gomez. Diplo, Kanye West, Lil Jon… the collaborations keep on coming!

Framed by Ricardo Guadalupe to the left and DJ Snake to the right.

He became the first French artist to have two songs with over a billion plays on Spotify, and the awards have rained down: Billboard Music Awards, MTV Music Awards, and no fewer than three NRJ Music Awards. Hublot and DJ Snake have been partners since January 1st 2018, when he presided over the decks at Hublot’s closing evening during the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

There is something else that needs no further introduction… when Hublot invites, there is always a dazzling party. The evening started with a cocktail reception at the Accor Arena in Paris.

The big reveal during the cocktail reception.

The exclusive Hublot Big Bang DJ Snake was revealed at exactly at 9:30 p.m., when Hublot CEO, Ricardo Guadalupe and the watch’s namesake, DJ Snake, presented the 100-piece limited model for the first time to the invited guests, among them Adriana Lima, Iris Mittenaere, Didi Stone and Richard Orlinski.

Afterwards, DJ Snake, the most streamed French artist in world and Hublot ambassador since 2018, heated up the crowd with his international hits.

«To be able to wear – and also offer my fans – a watch which reflects my personality is something that has been very important to me since the start of my partnership with Hublot. I am delighted to have been able to combine my inspiration with the expertise of the fantastic watchmakers and technicians at this Swiss brand
DJ Snake

The Big Bang DJ Snake is a vibrant watch boasting myriad facets, just like the talented artist who inspired it. The instantly recognisable iconic design of the Big Bang here gleams with a thousand coloured reflections. The bezel and the six titanium components of the 45-mm case are adorned with a «Newton’s Rings» effect. This process, which is technically similar to a black PVD treatment, is achieved through charging with colours and precisely orienting the components to a certain position to obtain the required colour.

At the DJ put: DJ Snake wearing the Big Bang DJ Snake and me wearing the Big Bang Unico Summer.

The result is an optical effect in which the colors change depending on the light and when viewed from different angles. Not only that, but the surface of the parts was hardened before the iridescent treatment in order to improve its adherence. This operation is a complex one as it is difficult to obtain the same gradation of colour on each of the 100 watches being produced. The cut-outs on the outer edge of the bezel were designed by DJ Snake himself. These notches make the Big Bang DJ Snake immediately recognisable, distinguishing it from other collections. An illustration of the «Art of Fusion» philosophy so dear to Hublot!

The upper face of the sapphire dial features a map of the world in the same colours as the case. This globe acts as DJ Snake’s signature. A nod both to his travels across the planet for his concerts and to the fact that his hits have made the world his home. The lower section is skeletonised and treated to create sections with a black fumé finish.

This semi-transparent finish allows a glimpse of the famous calibre HUB1242 UNICO movement, a flyback chronograph with a power reserve of 72 hours.

Limited to 100 pieces, the Big Bang DJ Snake will be supplied with two straps which are easily interchangeable thanks to the patented One Click system. The first is made from rubber, with a grey, black and purple camouflage pattern which echoes the myriad colours reflected by the watch case. The second, also rubber, has a black ribbed structure. The clasp on these straps also features the same «Newton’s Rings» effect as the case and bezel.

I am loving it and hope, that you will do too. Please enjoy more impressions of that fantastic night below. I feel so honored to be photographed by famous photographer German Larkin for Hublot.

My Look: The Tourist

During Paris Fashion Week, I had the chance to visit the L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped – a temporary artwork for Paris, that was on view for 16 days from September 18 – October 3, 2021. As I was extremely busy those days, I only went on the last Sunday.

In between shows, I put on this comfy look (my kind of tourist look) and explored this incredible installation. That evening, the light was absolutely magical, showing the Arc de Triomphe wrapped in 25,000 square meters of recyclable polypropylene fabric in silvery blue, and with 3,000 meters of red rope, in all sort of shades.

With my friend, Berlin artist Johanna Keimeyer, who invited me to this beautiful terrace overlooking the Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped.

In 1961, three years after they met in Paris, Christo and Jeanne-Claude began creating works of art in public spaces. In 1962, he made a photomontage of the Arc de Triomphe wrapped, seen from the Avenue Foch and, in 1988, a collage. 60 years later, the project was finally concretized, an homage to the late artists and to the city of Paris.

My look: Two-tone intarsia wool-blend cardiganicon by Balmain, Relax mesh-trimmed tech-jersey leggingsicon, and Relax cropped mesh-trimmed tech-jersey topicon, both by Alaïaleather exaggerated-sole sneakers by Alexander McQueen, Lou mini quilted textured-leather shoulder bagicon by Saint Laurent, and grey pearl necklace with gold and green metal glass charm by CHANEL.

My Look: Vuittamins

Here’s my first dose of Louis Vuitton‘s Vuittamins, photographed in Paris during Fashion Week. For Pre-fall 2021Nicolas Ghesquière created an upbeat and optimistic collection in my favorite color-saturated hues of pink and purple that I couldn’t resist. More to come…

My Look: Vuittamins two-colored sweater, Vuittamins pencil skirt in jacquard Monogram, and Vuittamins utility crossbody bag, all by Louis Vuitton (Pre-fall 2021), lace-up booties with logo buckle, and choker, both by CHANEL (F/W 2021).

Gucci Unveils the Gucci Circolo Berlin

Gucci’s creative energy is finding expression in the Gucci Circolo Berlin: a temporary space in the heart of Berlin where people can gather to enjoy an immersive experience and discover the House collections and codes.

Located in a historic building on the panoramic Landwehr Canal in Berlin-Kreuzberg, Gucci Circolo Berlin is an experiential space to be explored as a narrative journey through the various chapters of the Aria collection, designed by Alessandro Michele and presented in April 2021.
The journey begins with «Gucci 100» and ends with the presentation of «The Hacker Project» through a succession of settings that reflect and enhance the uniqueness of the Maison’s aesthetic.

On their journey through the Gucci Circolo Berlin, visitors have the chance to walk down the runway of the Aria fashion show, recreated at the entrance. The adventure continues in the Listening Lounge, celebrating Gucci’s long-standing connection with music. Here, surrounded by displays packed with vinyls, guests can embark on a sound journey inspired by the songs of some of the friends of the House, including Harry Styles, Sir Elton John, Florence Welch, Achille Lauro, and many others.

The Listening Lounge also offers the opportunity to download a playlist compiled to mark Gucci’s centenary. In the photo booth next to the Listening Lounge, visitors can have their photo taken with visual effects inspired by the patterns of the Gucci 100 collection.
At the end of the journey, guests can relax in the café area on Gucci Décor chairs, surrounded by precious floral arrangements.

Gucci Circolo Berlin features a full calendar of events until the beginning of December. It is housed in a historic building, now owned by Christian Boros, and home to his communications agency BOROS, the BOROS Foundation for contemporary art and the international art book publisher DISTANZ. Originally built in 1878 as the first sewage pumping station of Berlin, the building was formerly used by the senate as a lapidarium, a place for the storage and preservation of old stone monuments.

Location: Hallesches Ufer 78, 10963, Berlin, Germany
Opening Hours: Monday – Saturday, 11:00 – 20:00, upon appointment

Bobbi Brown x Ulla Johnson

I am obsessed with this F/W 2021 limited make-up collection: Bobbi Brown x Ulla Johnson – a match made in heaven. Being a huge fan of the Manhattan-born designer that honed her signature style on the streets of New York and when traveling to far-flung destinations on vacation, I was very curious to explore those beauty must-haves. Like her clothing designs, they come with an emphasis on the artisanal and attention to detail. Her bohemian collections are defined by «natural fibers, beautiful finishing, and ease of fit and form,» and so his this beautiful packaging of the make-up collection.

Imperio Necklace by Cartier

The new Sixième Sens par Cartier collection showcases that extra touch of soul unique to High Jewellery, an expression of art that inspires like no other.

Trompe-l’oeil or graphic games, optical effects or evocative power, the compositions play with Earth’s gravity. Disrupting our perceptions, this collection draws us into a world where our senses are stimulated and awakened. Even our sixth sense, that exhilarating rush of emotion that touches the heart.

With the Imperio necklace, Cartier continues its reflection on movement: how do you give rhythm to a composition and create a sense of speed? To answer these questions, Cartier borrows from the codes of kinetic art. Lines of tension, brisk strokes, geometric shapes and mirrored construction.

Graphic patterns are further accentuated by colour contrasts such as the black of the onyx and the green of the emeralds.  A chromatic combination that has been part of the Maison’s stylistic repertoire since 1910 and which accentuates the effect of perspective. It all combines to confuse the gaze that converges on the central stone: an exceptional 23.55-carat Colombian emerald with no inclusions. This octagonal stone has a perfectly homogeneous green colour with bluish undertones that harmonise with the other emeralds. Since my visit to an emerald mine in Muzo, Colombia in 2015, I have so much appreciation and love for those amazing, powerful green stones.

Like every piece of Cartier High Jewellery, the choice of stones pays tribute to their beauty. All must meet the highest standards of excellence and quality set by the Maison’s experts. A duty and a responsibility, both social and environmental that Cartier has pioneered, by being committed from the very beginning in terms of sourcing coloured stones. Therefore the Maison is a founding member of the Responsible Jewellery council (RJC), an organisation created in 2005 that sets standards in the areas of social and environmental responsibility for the jewellery and watchmaking industry.

With almost thirty different ways to wear it, this was the challenge the Cartier design studio and workshops had to face. This approach to jewellery has been part of the Maison’s history since the appearance of the first headbands that could be transformed into necklaces and, around the 1920s, bracelets that could be dismantled into brooches. Each new High Jewellery collection is an opportunity for Cartier to push the boundaries of innovation and ingenuity.

This necklace allows itself to transform. It can be worn short, long, split in two to be worn either together or separately. Opt for the diamond or emerald alone as a pendant, multiple combinations further increased by the possibility of unfastening the triangular motif that can be worn as a brooch… When worn, the jewellery piece reinvents itself, divides its charms and multiplies its appearances.

My Look: Patchwork

The outfit for which I had received the most compliments this summer was definitely this full-on Dolce & Gabbana denim and brocade patchwork look that I wore to a summer party in Saint Tropez.

Isn’t this outfit just fabulous? So vibrant, fun and playful. I love the idea of using stock fabrics to produce new looks, a truly sustainable approach to fashion without loosing the style aspect out of sight! Bravo, Dolce & Gabbana, well done!

My look: Patchwork brocade, drill and jacquard vest, patchwork drill and brocade jacquard bustier top, patchwork denim and jacquard midi skirticon, short necklace with patchwork details and rhinestonesicon, printed turban, Devotion denim slingback pumps, Sicily leather-trimmed patchwork denim toteicon, and floral embellished rhinestone sunglassesicon, all by Dolce & GabbanaClash de Cartier ring in 18K rose gold with amazonite by Cartier. Vintage Chandra earrings with white porcelain and pink tourmaline by Bvlgari (worn in shoot), and oversized gold-tone, leather, crystal and faux pearl clip earrings by Dolce & Gabbana (worn at party).

Feels Like Prada

I got so many lovely messages regarding my two last Prada outfit posts and lots of you were curious about the locations I shot the looks in Milan. Thank you for your interest!

For Prada‘s F/W 2021 campaign #FeelsLikePrada, the Italian fashion house came up with an amazing concept. The patterns of the show decorate buildings, houses and walls in different cities around the world. You can find them in Paris, Milan, Florence, Rome, Shanghai, Tokyo, New York and Hong Kong until October 21, 2021.

Left: Feels Like Prada – Milano – Corso Garibaldi 95 – Building artwall
Right: Dinner with Prada – Milano – Via Spallanzani – Viale Regina Giovanna (Porta Venezia) – Building artwall

Feelings – emotions and senses, intimacy and tactility. The Prada F/W 2021 campaign, showcasing the collections for women and men designed by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, is an exploration of the evocation of feeling.

To feel has connotations both sensorial and emotional – rather than intellectual discourse, it is about instinct, spontaneity. Photographed by David Sims, each image is implicitly a fragment of an independent narrative – yet presented in serial, laid side-by-side, these photographs form a new abstract story of their own, expressing emotion. Deeper than appearance, this campaign is about what feels like Prada.

Building in New York

This narrative will come to life through a variety of experimental activations during Fall 2021, spanning digital and physical – life, re-fashioned, through the lens of Prada. Real-world spaces and quotidian objects will be enveloped in tactile patterns drawn from the Prada F/W 2021 collection, alongside building façades also featured in the campaign imagery – objects and places that can be touched, felt.

Prada objects at the Wet Market in Shanghai

The campaign as a whole is a proposition, a proposal – positing a vision of a brand, intentionally multi-faceted, to reflect its complex and ever-transforming nature. It is that which – always – feels like Prada.
