There is a new It-bag waiting for all fashion lovers: GUCCI‘s SYLVIE BAG. Featuring a number of the house’s iconic elements, this new amazing style makes use of the well-known GUCCI web stripe and combines this with a distinctive ornamental chain with a spring-buckle closure, a detail that lends the style a bourgeois confidence.

The house web motif appears as a woollen insert underneath the chain detail – the two decorative elements, hard and soft, combining to create a characterful signature for this neat, structured handbag.

The shoulder strap is in grosgrain and also features the house web design, and metallic details on its tips. However, the web colour-combination on this grosgrain strap is always different to that on the bag’s web insert, a playful mismatch that contributes to the SYLVIE’s eccentric appeal. For those occasions when a more subdued look is appropriate, each bag also comes with an alternative, matching shoulder strap in plain leather.

Attention lovers! MIU MIU introduces a capsule collection especially for Valentine’s Day. The offering draws on the playful juxtaposition of different worlds.

Cherries are the recurrent sweetly romantic motif of this quintessentially feminine collection, always coming, like lovers, in sparkling pairs and nestling on vivid green crystal leaves.

Jewelled hearts also make an appearance and an exclusive logo – MIU MIU Loves – is applied to the madras leather styles.

Purses suspended from palladium hardware, wallets, card holders, key chains and bag trinkets all feature in the colors of passion – black, ruby red and sugar pink – often with contrasting linings. Materials include madras and nappa leather with signature “cloqué” workmanship. Characteristically irreverent details finish each piece, among them more cherries, hearts and lettering in polished silver or brightest red enamel.

Since its launch last year, Bottega Veneta KNOT has become a huge success and once you smell it you will understand why. It is so airy and abounds in floral sparkling notes. After my first spritz, I have been hooked ever since.

When I was in Los Angeles for the TOM FORD Ford F/W 2015 show, I was invited to visit the brand’s presentation of the upcoming beauty launches at the Sunset Tower hotel. The moment I entered the suite, my eyes were immediately drawn to two clutch bags placed above the fireplace.

This amazing piece of art is finished with a lipstick holder at one side and comes with the ‘Vanilla Suede‘ shade from the brand’s beauty collection (you can use every TOM FORD lipstick shade of course). It’s lined in leather and has a zipped pocket, so you can keep your essentials neatly organized inside. The concealable snake chain strap offers an alternative way to wear this elegant Italian-made piece.

It was big news when GUCCI revealed their new Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, in January this year (for the previous post, please click here). One thing is for sure. The fashion industry loves debuts and indeed, Michele’s approach feels very different from what we had been knowing from Giannini’s collections. The new man at the helm of Gucci has a decidedly more romantic outlook, differing from the former sexy designs.

For his first season, Alessandro Michele created the DIONYSUS BAG, which will be the It-Bag of the season! With the horseshoe-shaped double Tiger-head closure as its distinctive feature, the Dionysus was named after the eponymous Greek god of wine, who crossed the river Tigris with the aid of his father, Zeus, who sent a tiger to carry Dionysus across.

The new Dionysus bag is available in various materials including exotic skins like python and crocodile, and even with embroidered embellishments such as a bee, snake or eagle, created using strips of brass whipped in silk thread.

My favorite model is this hand-painted floral motif as also seen in the F/W2015 ad campaign.

Design of the gods. A bag you’ll surely love to carry around this season and many more to come!

Prada’s Double Bag, a practical and surprisingly lightweight tote, that features an internal divider with a flap pocket to hold valuables, complemented with buttons on each side and a metal name plaque, is a timeless purchase that you will keep for many seasons to come.
