Prêt-à-PorTea and Masstige

teetassepret-a-portea

Have you always dreamt of having a cup of tea with your favourite designer? Now your dream becomes true, you can have a tête-à-tète with Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier and Donatella Versace. The Prêt-à-PorTea set characters recline in your cup.
What a lovely way to enjoy your afternoon tea. To the Haute Brew!

Karl Lagerfeld will be more accessible from next year anyway. Groundbreaking news this week was also that the genius has cancelled his show, which was scheduled to take place in Paris on October 3rd, to focus more on his new vision: The launch of his “Masstige” line next year. The term is coming from the combination of “mass market” and “prestige”. The Kaiser seems to be a true visionary by exploring his notion of “mass elitism” using his own name.
The collection, which will be of good quality but more more affordable than designer clothes, will only be sold online. By saving the inherent costs of opening a boutique and investing more in the product itself, Karl Lagerfeld is anchoring himself in modernity and will make his company highly profitable again.

I like his vision of everybody in the streets well dressed! Go for it, Karl!

Meet L’Wren Scott

L'WrenScott

Meet fantastic L’Wren Scott, the brainchild behind the eponymous label. Born 1967 as Luann Bambrough in Utah, the former model is noted for her height of 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 meters) and a frequent companion of Mick Jagger.

As a tall teenager, she took her first steps in making clothes. Later, she worked as a stylist and a costume designer before starting her own line that has become quickly a favourite among red carpet celebrities.

Her F/W 2010 collection, Tuxedo Terrace, presents a modern take on tuxedo dressing with great pieces for cocktail and black tie attire. Available at NET-À-PORTER.

Lancome-L’Wren-Scott-Lancome-Collection-for-Holiday-2010

Another gorgeous collaboration will hit the counters in November. The leggy designer teamed up with Lancôme to create an exclusive make-up look for the upcoming holiday season.

The slate gray nail polish had already been on the models’s nails during L’Wren Scott’s F/W 2010 runway show. Must-haves will also be Hypnôse Drama Mascara in a limited-edition shimmery silver and the sultry red shade for lips.

A classic look that will work perfectly this upcoming season.

The Row

American actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen launched their hip ready-to-wear and accessories label in 2007.
The brand’s name The Row derives from London’s historic Savile Row which has inspired their line: Traditional tailoring with a strong focus on clean lines, ultra-refined silhouettes and figure-flattering fit. I am completely in love with the leather mini skirt and long cashmere cardigan.

So good news is that the famous twins started their e-commerce business today. With worldwide shipping, the cult label is available to fashionistas everywhere.

The F/W 2010 collection is an understated and classic take on everyday’s wear with an edgy twist to it. The luxurious fabrics underline the effortless chic. This is minimalism at its best.

Simone Camille Bags – A Gypset Statement

Simone Harouche, L.A.-born stylist and globetrotter, is the mastermind behind Hollywood`s new must-have accessory label: Simone Camille. The colourful unique patchwork bags are handmade and comprised of vintage textiles that come from all over the world. She acquired a one-of-a-kind material collection during her years of travelling as a wardrobe stylist that inspired her to make a bohemian carryall for herself.

98413_fr_lThe hype started in 2009 after Nicole Richie was so taken by Simone`s creation and wanted one for herself. The rest is handbag history.

The amazing hippie bags with beautiful embroideries and embellishments like mirrors, beads and light-catching coins have been spotted on many celeb shoulders. Available from today at www.net-a-porter.com retailing between $1155.- – $1885.-. Quite expensive for something that you might find on the markets in Ibiza, but believe me the details and craftsmanship are worth every penny.

Visionaire pays Tribute to Late McQueen

Visionaire, the art and fashion bible, has designed a gorgeous limited edition book in honour of the late Alexander McQueen with the contribution of some famous names like Nick Knight, Lady Gaga, Stephen Klein und Mario Testino. Only 1.500 numbered copies of the boxed set Visionaire58 Spirit, A Tribute to Lee Alexander McQueen will be available at Alexander McQueen boutiques and Colette for €1500.-. The reason why this is so pricey might be on one side the wrapping in a metalized brocade from the S/S 2010 show and on the other the paper quality. The pages are embedded with seeds that, if planted and watered, will bloom real flowers. How cool is that?

If this is still not convincing, why not getting a great piece from the last collection that McQueen was working on before he comitted suicide last February. His beautiful fall pieces have already started to arrive in stores. So keep your eyes open. I am completely in love with the chevron-tweed jacket. It has a shredded silk trim which gives its classic cut a fierce twist. Combine it with motorcross leather pants plus a cool tank and upgrade the look with some drama by adding gorgeous heels and a studded clutch. If something is not available anymore, I recommend contacting McQueen directly or visit the online shop.

Have fun shopping and paying your own tribute!

The Tiniest Trendsetters

Yesterday I showed you the first sketches of the Gucci Kids collection that will make the hearts of the tiniest trendsetters leap with joy. I am at the moment in L.A. and this might have inspired me to today`s post. Celebrity offspring following in their parents` stylish footsteps is seen here everywhere. Photographed by trendhunters, the kids have an already well-established look like their style-icon mums and dads.

With Suri Cruise leading the way at the ripe old age of 4, who would have thought the little girl that newly born already graced the cover of Vanity Fair magazine would become such a fashion superstar?! There are blogs devoted to her style, designers send her presents (remember Ferragamo`s Sofia tote) and it might be only a matter of time before Hermès creates the “Suri” bag. You can argue about the „high heels“ she is wearing but the mini fashionista definitely rocks the Burberry check and ballet tutus. Malicious gossip has it that she is pushed by her parents. Regardless of the veracity or otherwise of that account, I can assure you that my love for fashion started very very young, too. I drove my mum crazy with my strong attitude towards my own style.

The little fashion icons also play a pivotal role in the advertising concepts of their actress-designer-mums that mostly have their own fashion lines. Doesn`t Suri looks adorable in her mum`s Holmes & Yang dresses?

Or let`s look at No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani who designs the stylish L.A.M.B. collection and dresses her son in the subsequent line for little L.A.M.B.s.

Ex Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling has turned her style into a clothing line for kids age 0 up to 4 years named Little Maven. The mother of two also wrote a book about fashionable motherhood.

Another book author is Nicole Richie whose second novel “Priceless will be in stores this fall. She is probably the most experienced and successful designer of all these fashionable mums. Her two lines are named after her daughter`s three names: The accessories and shoe collection is called House of Harlow 1960 and the clothing line Winter Kate. Nicole has a great vintage inspired boho-chic style with a modern edge. She also got a lot of credit for her maternity line that she created in collaboration with A Pea in the Pod.

That the tiny trendsetters can become grown-up “Material Girls” shows the example of Madonna`s thirteen-year-old daughter Lourdes Leon who is co-designing with her mum a juniors clothing line named after Madonna`s 1984 hit song for Fall 2010.  It is a mix of fierce and cute elements with a lot of references to the singers former look like a tutu dress paired with studded combat boots. The Material Girl collection will be sold exclusively at Macy`s for back-to-school-season starting August 3rd.

It Is a Juicy World

Paris Hilton at Madame Tussauds

Paris Hilton at Madame Tussauds

It is Sunday and I feel totally cozy. When I am at home, I usually wear all sorts of track suits, mostly by Juicy Couture. By transforming the sloppy sweat suit into a sexy uniform, the brand has been on everyone`s lips since quite a while. Spotted on many celebrities, it seems to be perfect for everyday life. Paris Hilton, a big fan of the label, is even displayed at Madame Tussauds wax museum in London in Juicy Couture.

In the US it is quite usual to wear the comfortable clothes to all sorts of different occassions from grocery shopping to lunch. In Europe, the trainer look is becoming more and more part of a fashionable wardrobe during the day. I could live in those, sooooo comfy and still body-consciously sexy, also great for yoga and pilates. By the way, the quality is amazing, you can wash them a zillion times.

Apart from the tracksuits, Juicy Couture offers a lot more, from cute underwear to kids clothing, dog couture, jewelry and a lot of fun stuff.

I am totally in love with those cute pieces above. The colour combo of mint green and soft pink is enchanting. Who could resist a girl in such a cute bathrobe at the breakfast table sipping her coffee?

JC Founders

Pam Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor

Juicy Couture changed the flavour of casual dress and style. The company was founded by two smart Californian women Pam Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor in 1994 and belongs since 2003 to the Liz Claiborne group. The brand extended their product range to include ready-to-wear, denim and more. The sister line Bird by Juicy Couture was introduced last year, a more serious fashion that offers a great value for money. I recommend it warmly to you.

Usher in an era of relaxed luxe that will sooner or later take over the world!

2010 CFDA Fashion Awards

The 2010 CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) paid tribute to its winners and honorees last night in New York at the Lincoln Center. The award could be compared to the Oscars in fashion. Many celebrities, designers, models and stylists attented the event, dressed up beautifully. A real fashionable crowd.

The most important prize was won by Marc Jacobs, named to be the Womenswear Designer of the Year. Menswear went to Rag & Bone designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright and the Accessory section was covered by Alexis Bittar.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Alexander McQueen honoured the late designer for his indelible contribution to international fashion. Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of US Vogue, handed the Geoffrey Been Lifetime Achievement Award to Michael Kors who showed up with Gwyneth Paltrow in one of his designs. Christopher Bailey for Burberry was recognized with this year`s International Award.

The three Swarovski Awards for emerging talents were given to Jason Wu, Richard Chai and Alexander Wang. This is not only a trophy. The recipients will receive generous financial support from the company. Let`s keep an eye on those rising stars!

A New Universe

images-1imagesRohmir was founded by former model and psychologist Olga Roh in 2007 and means in Russian Roh`s universe. The ready-to-wear line offers women a wardrobe in which luxury, elegance, glamour and intellectuality reign supreme. I especially like her cocktail couture. The prices are reasonable between CHF 500.- – CHF 1000.- for an evening dress. The blonde designer herself hails from Russian nobility and is now a resident of Monaco. It might be her own lifestyle that influences her creations, a mixture between Parisian chic and Slavic refinement. Her label is on the rise, inspired by the French 1920s and 1930s fashion, a culturally rich era and also a liberating time for women.
This spring, Rohmir`s first London boutique opened in Mayfair. The launch was attended by many UK-celebrities including TV-psychologist  Linda Papadopulos, Britain`s Next Top Model presenter Lisa Butcher and well-known models Olivia Inge and Zoe Hobbs.

Last week Cartier hosted an event in Zurich to present their new Trinity collection with all models dressed in Rohmir creations. What a lovely match! Please see for yourself:

Pascal Millet

Pascal Millet

Meet Pascal Millet and his first collection for F/W 2010 in his own name. Contemporary, modern with a couture allure- that would be the perfect description.
The designer began his career as the assistant to Michel Goma at Balenciaga, stylist with Givenchy, then continued to work with John Galliano and Alexander McQueen, before taking over as artistic director of Carven in 2001.

n119186451444817_750Now he has fulfilled his dream and opened his house in Paris. “La Parisienne” in all her splendor is anyway his greatest source of inspiration. The style is evening cocktail. I love the colour combination of blue and black in particular.

Available at Galeries Lafayette in Paris or for more information visit his homepage.
