Trending: Fair Isle Sweaters

Fair Isle sweaters (or cardigans), renowned for their intricate, multicolored patterns, have become a quintessential element of winter fashion. Originating from Fair Isle in Scotland, these sweaters have evolved from traditional knitwear to contemporary fashion staples, blending heritage with modern style.

In the 2024 winter season, Fair Isle sweaters are experiencing a significant resurgence. Fashion houses like Chloé, Thom Browne, and Polo Ralph Lauren, have incorporated them into their collections, showcasing the pattern’s versatility and timeless appeal.

Fair Isle is here to stay: Altuzarra S/S 2025

Styling Tips
• Casual Wear: Pair a Fair Isle sweater with jeans and boots for a cozy, everyday look.
• Layering: Combine with a collared shirt underneath to add a touch of sophistication.
• Festive Ensemble: Opt for sweaters featuring traditional Christmas colors or motifs to enhance the holiday spirit.

Embracing Fair Isle sweaters this Christmas not only aligns with current fashion trends but also adds a touch of traditional charm to your holiday wardrobe. Their versatility and timeless appeal make them a joyful addition to any festive ensemble.

Alexander McQueen’s Hoof Boots

Sending the internet into a frenzy, Alexander McQueen’s «Hoof Boots» are a striking and avant-garde footwear design introduced in the brand’s F/W 2024 collection under creative director Seán McGirr. I spotted them at the re-see after the show in March and knew that they needed a spot in Sandra’s Closet.

Giving the wearer an anthropomorphic feel, these boots are shaped to mimic horse hooves, complete with sculpted heels and sometimes even horseshoe-like embellishments. Inspired by McGirr’s Irish heritage, they embody the rebellious, theatrical spirit long associated with McQueen, echoing the brand’s iconic «armadillo» shoes worn by Lady Gaga.

Finished in brown calf hair, or with a sweeping silk ponytail, the «Hoof Boots» feature a mid-calf length and rear zip fastening, with a heel height of 145mm, offering both height and dramatic flair. These boots have quickly captured attention for their bold silhouette and have been described as a potential viral sensation due to their unique aesthetic.

An Enchanting Evening with Valentino

Yesterday, I was invited by Valentino to an enchanting and mysterious evening. The dress code said: «Dark as Le Noir», reminiscent of the Maison’s F/W 2024 collection, for which Pierpaolo Piccioli presented pieces centered around a monochromatic black palette, exploring the depth and versatility of the color black.

The collection was marked by a sense of minimalism and elegance, focusing on silhouettes that ranged from structured to fluid. There was a mix of sharp tailoring and softer, more romantic elements, showcasing a balance between power and delicacy.  Accessories were kept minimal, allowing the garments to speak for themselves.

We started the evening at 6pm at the Valentino pop-up store located on the first floor of the Mandarin Oriental Savoy Zurich. It was very hot and I have to admit that wearing an all black F/W 2024 outfit was not the most convenient choice but this is what you do for fashion :-).

After lots of shopping, lots of bubbly, and great conversations, we left for the secret location which was the LUX am See Restaurant in Zurich. I hadn’t been there before and was curious to explore something new.

I go to many events but I have to tell you that my Valentino family is truly special. The room is simply buzzing with great energy. The team is amazing and shopping at the Valentino store is always a fun experience.

Stay tuned for the outfit post coming up soon!

The Loubishow

It’s not every day that Christian Louboutin takes over an iconic theatre to put on a show. Last night, the fashionable guests arrived at Le Trianon in Montparnasse. They were greeted by crowds of fans that were eagerly waiting for the K-pop stars to arrive for the event.

For last night’s F/W 2024 presentation, Louboutin threw what most people would call the party of a lifetime, the Loubishow. During the champagne reception, I indulged in the new collections on display, from amazingly embellished cowboy boots to denim models. I had also the chance to preview of the revered tradition of the annual cabas series, this year dedicated to Rio de Janeiro. Lots of sparkles and embellishments – exactly what I love!

At around 9.30pm, we were asked to go inside the theatre to enjoy the show. Sitting front row, it was a pleasure witnessing the mesmerizing dance performance happening in sparkly Louboutins. After that we enjoyed the after party. It was an absolutely amazing night.

And now time for new season shopping … Don’t forget, Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life. Below you can find my favorite new models for F/W 2024.
