Gucci Celebrates the Year of the Dog 2018

The next Chinese New Year begins on 16th February 2018, and Gucci will celebrate the year of the dog with a dedicated collection of special items.

Gucci’s dog motifs for this collection were inspired by a pillow that the artist Helen Downie, AKA Unskilled Worker, gave as a gift to Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele, which featured an illustration of his two Boston terriers, Bosco and Orso.

Unskilled Worker’s dogs adorn a wide range of pieces that have been developed for the collection, including items of clothing (women’s and men’s ready-to-wear), shoes, handbags, luggage, small leather goods and accessories.  Women’s brightly coloured knitted sweaters, and denim shorts, feature the images, as do men’s hoodies and bomber jackets. The animals appear large on backpacks and tote bags in the Gucci Supreme material, and on colourful leather clutch bags and wallets. Scarves, trainers and jewellery are also embellished with pictures of these two dogs, while watches display the dog ‘faces’ on their faces.

There are 63 items in total in the collection, and it will be promoted across Gucci’s digital channels (notably on its newly-launched e-commerce channel in China) and in store, with special packaging.

Store windows will also be dedicated to the collection, with tartan walls, floor and matching tartan upholstered mini-bench seats for displaying products, with a giant image of each dog on the rear wall.

For iPhone X users, special interactive content will be available on the Gucci App. One will be bale to bring to life Orso and Bosco with one’s expressions, through special face recognition technology, and record a video that can be shared from the app.

The collection is now available in all markets, both in stores and online.

M∙A∙C x Jade Jagger

British jewelry designer and daughter of Mick Jagger, Jade Jagger brings her gemstone proclivities and free-spirited sensibilities to a collection for M·A·C. In tribute to her rock ‘n’ roll heritage, Jagger shares all the lustre of her eclectic lifestyle with pearlescent Mineralize Lipsticks, Eye Shadows, Blushes and Skinfinish. Jewel tones and deep golds take on all the cool glamour of the designer’s vision. Below she tells us a little bit more about her inspiration:

Jade Jagger

Jade, can you share with us your inspiration for the collection?
Maybe I’m not quite as young and adventurous as my daughters are with makeup, but my inspiration speaks truly to the gold tones since they suit everyone and are universally accepted no matter the time of the day. I love the lipsticks and the eye shadow palettes because the application is so buildable. I can go quite natural during the day and while I’m in the car going to an event at night I can use that same lipstick or palette to create a more defined or daring look. The jewel-like tones and reflective pigments in my M∙A∙C collection were inspired by the precious stones used in my jewellery designs.

Georgia May Jagger, Jade Jagger, Lizzy Jagger

Who is Jade Jagger and who are her role models/strongest influences?
Jade Jagger is a mother and a designer and a strong willed and sexy person to me. I’m influenced by so many things in the world and we are so fortunate to be alive. Different points in nature and the insurgence of cultures really brings indigenous beauty to the forefront of my mind. I love getting inspiration from modern people and architecture and studying the simple things like the shape of a leaf or the colour of the sky. Finding influence in these ways has always been a big part of me. It’s so hard to remember everything that I’ve been inspired by but Andy Warhol played a huge part since he was so intimate with his work yet itappealed to such a huge culture.

The beautiful end result of the collaboration

How was the creative process with M∙A∙C and what was the key concept you wanted to deliver?
The creative process with M∙A∙C was nothing short of amazing. Everyone was so creative, inspiring, and kind hearted, really making sure to take my visions and bring them to fruition. I really had to understand that there was an entire process to learn when it comes to creating a makeup line and deciding on what the packaging would look like. It was great to have creativeliberty and really make something that I feel so proud of.

Rings from Jade Jaggers’ Neverending Collection

What are the similarities and differences in launching this collection and designing your pieces?
Designing my jewellery pieces is quite similar to developing my collection with M∙A∙C when it came to gathering ideas and understanding the needs and the wants. The main difference that I found, was with my M∙A∙C collaboration, we are creating so many products that are being launched as a collection. There needs to be elements that connect each piece to one another and create this comprehensive makeup story that we are trying to tell. When it comes to my jewellery designs, I’m not necessarily looking at it as a collection, but rather I make a lot of unique one-off pieces that create individual stories of their own.

Jade Jagger sketching

How do you keep your designs refreshing and unique?
Each year we go through a regeneration process. We get influence by bringing all of these different experiences together whether the basis is architecture or the garden, I’m able to determine these new concepts based on everything I’m exposed to. I’m always keeping notes and doing sketches, so delivering unique pieces is a stable yet growing and organic process.

Thank you, Jade, for this insight!

Prada Silver Line

Prada presents PRADA SILVER LINE, an itinerant project offering customers the chance to acquire exclusive products – which are chosen for each leg of the journey – and presented inside an original installation.

For the Christmas Holiday, for one month, this imaginary railway station stops for the first time at the Galaxy shopping mall in Macau, hosting a selection of women’s luxury bags and accessories.

In particular, the Prada Cahier bag is reinterpreted in three new styles made of exotic leathers. A different selection of items will be developed for each future city of the itinerant retail space.

The concept is a reconstruction of an ideal train in which the various target is aesthetic themes are combined in a single design. The exterior is a metal shell reminiscent of the American Streamliners of the ’30s and ’50s. The interior features walls cover in floral-patterned red silk brocade to create a luxurious, romantic look. The setting is completed by the iconic black-and-white chequered floor which characterises Prada stores around the world since 1913.

Around and outside the train’s coach, a series of installations including life-size Prada robots and a ticket booth, which serves as a concierge service’s booth, finish off the perfect ambiance.

From January 2018, PRADA SILVER LINE will touch on several cities, including Dubai and later on some of the most important locations in Asia, Europe and the United States.

I am loving it… cannot wait for the PRADA SILVER LINE to hopefully stop in Zurich…

MAC Viva Glam Sia

Singer and songwriter Sia has been announced as the newest spokeswoman for MAC’s VIVA GLAM lipstick. The cosmetic brand’s iconic campaign to raise awareness and money for HIV/AIDS was created in 1994, at a time when the pandemic was dramatically affecting fashion communities in particular as well as the wider world.

This year, the pop star’s debut lipstick is a warm and bright red shade named VIVA GLAM Sia. The color is meant to speak to the artist’s avant-garde style and boundary pushing persona.

All proceeds from the VIVA GLAM products go to ending HIV/AIDS and the campaign has raised over $470 million to date. Sia joins an impressive lineup of former VIVA GLAM faces, including, Nicki Minaj (2012), Miley Cyrus (2014/2015) Rihanna (2014) and Ariana Grande (2015/2016), among others.

In Switzerland, the lipstick will be available for CHF 28.00 at all MAC locations from January 28th and online here.

Jean Paul Gaultier Crazy Tree

First of all, you know that I am a big fan of niche fragrances but there are some scents that have been popular since many years that I adore as well. For example the two cult perfumes CLASSIQUE und LE MÂLE by Jean Paul Gaultier. The man’s version is for me one of the most seductive scents a man can wear… it smells so incredibly good. Moreover it is the most popular man’s fragrance among women. And here comes the great news, those two classics have dressed up for the festive season and present themselves inside a limited edition snow globe. How cute is that?!

Saint Laurent x Colette

As you already know, unfortunately Colette, the legendary Parisian concept store, will close forever on December 20, 2017 (click here for a previous article). Founded in 1997 by Colette Roussaux, the house has been led by her daughter Sarah Andelmanin recent years. But before the amazing mother-daughter team says good-bye to their Rue St.-Honoré space for good, they are hosting the last in a season-long series of pop-up takeovers.

But who will be the label that will be the last to fill Colette’s famous first floor? It’s Saint Laurent! This might sound bizarre as you might remember the clash the two brands had a few years ago after Colette started selling ironic tees that referenced the Saint Laurent brand («It ain’t Saint Laurent without Yves») when Hedi Slimane was at the helmet of design. After this incident, the label pulled its merchandise indefinitely from the store. Now, the wind freshened and Saint Laurent’s recent creative director Anthony Vaccarello has dreamed up a series of highly collectible collaborative items to celebrate the traditions and iconic memories of Parisian daily life for the pop-up shop. Rumors are out that this might be a test-run as Saint Laurent might be taking over the Colette space for its own store in 2018.

Vespa for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, 6,900 euros ($8,100), available at Colette

My favorite? The all-black Vespa, the most common and stylish way to get around crowded Paris.

Ruby for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello helmet, 2,500 euros ($2,900), available at Colette

And to go with it, you will need the glossy black and fully crystal-embellished motorcycle helmet made with Ruby.

Polaroid for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello custom vintage SX-70 camera, 500 euros ($587), available at Colette

Among the must-have pieces you will find something for every budget, from a customized vintage Polaroid SX-70 camera, a leopard-print Arkaic Concept skateboard, to a box of Pierre Marcolini custom chocolates and many more…

Arkaic Concept for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello leopard skate deck, 195 euros ($229), available at Colette

Pierre Marcolini for Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello “Les Cœurs de Saint Laurent Dorés” chocolates, 49 euros ($57), available at Colette

Should none of that get your attention, check out those pieces below…

Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello fetish toy, from 250 to 395 euros ($294 to $463), available at Colette

Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello set of stickers, 25 euros ($29), available at Colette

Mary Katrantzou x Disney x Colette

Inspired by the iconic Walt Disney full length feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, London-based designer Mary Katrantzouicon has designed an exclusive collection for iconic Parisian store colette, that will close its door on December 20, 2017 unfortunately.

Marking the 80th anniversary of the groundbreaking animated feature, the collection centers on the scene stealing dwarfs re-imagined in technicolor sequin motifs, boldly embroidered on t-shirts and fully sequined sweatshirts, bombers and dresses. Combining Katrantzou’s signature witty and colourful style with easy-to-wear silhouettes, the collection aligns with colette’s innovative Parisian mix of modernity and originality.

My work is rooted in visual culture and the collaging of disparate elements in unexpected combinations” says Mary Katrantzouicon. “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a definitive moment within pop culture and each individual dwarf expresses a different facet of feelings universal to the human experience. This collection is a re-interpretation of the iconic Snow White characters for our times”.

To celebrate the capsule collection, Mary Katrantzou iconand director Pierre Dixsaut have captured an immersive shimmering wonderland with model Louise Follain. The video will be premiered in the colette windows from now till this Saturday November 25th.

Those beautiful limited edition pieces will be available in store from now until November 25th and online at www.colette.fr from now until December 20th.

Which dwarf are you? #happy #bashful #sleepy#sneezy #dopey #doc #grumpy
I am so in love with this collection! Bravo, Mary!
