Win an Evian + Kenzo Collector’s Bottle

Kenzo Evian

Each year EVIAN releases a new collectible water bottle in time for the holiday season and this time the famous brand has teamed up with no other than the house of KENZO to create a one-of-a kind design.

Evian Bottles 2008-15Previous collaborations (from right to left): Christian Lacroix (2008), Jean Paul Gaultier (2009), Paul Smith (2010), Issey Miyake (2011), Courrèges (2012), Diane von Furstenberg (2013), Elie Saab (2014) and now Kenzo (2015).

Kenzo Campaign FW2014Kenzo F/W 2014 ad campaign

Kenzo Evian Bottle LEKENZO’s Creative Directors, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, were influenced for their F/W 2014 collection for both men and women by the work of artist and director David Lynch and it is in this vein that the bottle’s motif features a broken floor pattern, toying with the idea of shifting the elements. Offering a magnifying glass effect when full, the bottle’s purple fragmented pattern is penetrated by a sole lime zig-zag, giving the holder a distorted and skewed view of its ultra-pure contents.

The Evian + Kenzo Limited Edition Collector’s Bottle is available for CHF 3.50 at Globus and Manor in Switzerland while supplies last. Great news is that five of my Swiss readers can win such a collector’s bottle.

To participate in the contest, please send me an e-mail with your postal address and the header “Evian + Kenzo” to . All entries must be received until December 5, 2014. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win this contest. By entering this contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these official rules. The winner has to have a Swiss address.

Stay tuned for many more raffles to follow during the next 24 days until X-mas.

LoL, Sandra

The Cabinet of Curiosities 2014 in Bangkok

Cover CDCTE2014 Bangkok

Last week, I flew to Bangkok to attend the opening event of the fifth edition of the Cabinet of Curiosities by Thomas Erber. After Colette in Paris, Browns in London, Andreas Murkudis in Berlin and Maison Kitsuné in New York, the annual exhibition went the first time to Asia. Thomas Erber has been an acclaimed journalist, writer and special correspondent in the fields of travel, culture and trend for 15years. In addition, he also works as a brand consultant.

Unique Piece & edition of 50

Thai silk company Jim Thompson has kept its founder’s ethos to modernize the Thai silk industry while keeping its craft completely local. The company sustains its own silk farms, mills and design studio, producing all its fabrics in-house thanks to the hands of Thai master weavers, spinners and dyers. For this piece, the brand has teamed up with renowned French graffiti artist Olivier Burel, aka Ogreoner. Off the back of a highly buzzed collaboration with Chanel, which held prime position in Colette’s Rue Saint-Honoré store window during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, Ogreoner was invited to make his mark in a new country. The artist took his spray cans to Thailand, and after more than 50 hours of freehand work, brought Naga Pitak to life. Ogreoner first encountered the naga at the Jim Thompson House; a mythical serpent, a symbol of protection, it is a hallmark of traditional Thai architecture.

Zurich-born, Berlin- and Bangkok-based Laend Phuengkit may be new to the scene, but his designs have already earned him a Swiss Design Award in 2011 and a showing at Berlin’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Days in 2012. The designer’s unabashed use of traditional Thai and Asian-influenced colours, draping and prints, coupled with his dynamic pattern-making, gives rise to boldly proportioned garments with a demi-couture slant. Hide and Seek marks Phuengkit’s return to his native Bangkok and is, aptly enough, his first collaboration with an Asian artist, Oh Futon. A wearable commentary on human emotions, his shirts invite us to take a closer look and see the stories behind the person.

The “Dragon clutch” is an exceptional, one-of-a-kind evening clutch created in partnership with Lotus Arts de Vivre, fusing Peter’s classical romance with the Eastern exoticism of the dragon. Shaped in dark grey, matte alligator skin, the rounded box shape features an engraved frame and is closed by a dragon’s head clasp – its eyes two shining rubies, the mouth clutching a grey pearl.

“Luxury is about delivering real value and real things,” and to François Russo, nothing personifies this realness like the perfect leather bag. Disillusioned with the generally poor quality of European luxury leather goods, the designer moved to Thailand in 2006 and founded Maison Takuya, a leather goods brand that blends Russo’s French heritage with his fondness for Japanese craftsmanship. The bags themselves, if not perfect, come close : each one is processed and stitched entirely by hand in the brand’s Chiang Mai manufacture. Each step is performed by one of 150 highly skilled Thai artisans under the tutelage of European and Japanese leathercraft masters. (Maison Takuya is also available at Trois Pommes in Switzerland.)

PTppt is a dining-cum-ping-pong table fashioned from reclaimed Teng wood. The tabletop features hand-inlaid marquetery lines and borders, while its base was hand-casted by P Tendercool’s bronze-master Armando; the 1950s net-holders were custom-casted to match. For chairs, two moulded wooden seats were wrapped in hand-stitched leather and set atop hand-casted brass legs. Each chair-back is tattooed – guns, ink and all – with a unique design.

Candles Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle

Malle Candles

For Frédéric Malle home scents are about atmospheres. A cluster of lily of the valley, a gentleman’s den, a dinner in Paris: so many different olfactory images have gone through his mind, and over time he has asked the best perfumers in the industry to transcribe them into fragrances. Each of these highly figurative scents can transform the atmosphere of a room. The fact that these perfumes evoke such precise images inspired Monsieur Malle to call illustrator Konstantin Kakanias and ask him to create his own interpretation of the image conjured by each perfume. For a limited time each illustration will be featured on the box of its corresponding candle, in a collection of images as eclectic as the collections of the iconic scents.

What’s in the Bag?

What's in the bag

When Tommy Hilfiger approached me to work together on this special project, I was immediately hooked. The American brand’s continued support of Breast Health International for the eight consecutive year marks the launch of a new limited-edition handbag. As my own mum suffered from breast cancer and fortunately fought this horrible disease, I know how hard this phase of life can be for the patient but also for her family. Buying this fantastic bag means: “Building awareness, raising funds and making a positive impact on the lives of women who are affected by breast cancer around the world,” as Tommy Hilfiger states.

Hilfiger Bag

The limited-edition handbag will retail for €299, and €100 of each sale will go directly to the Fund for Living. This global BHI initiative assists women with breast cancer by covering costs or addressing unique problems associated with their care that are not commonly covered by health insurance programs, such as transportation to a medical appointment or childcare during treatment.

BHI_BTS_NW_04_FW14_150_RGB

The 2014 BHI campaign features no other than award-winning actress Naomi Watts photographed by Patrick Demarchelier. The handbag is available exclusively on tommy.com and in select Tommy Hilfiger stores around the world starting today.

Sandra Bauknecht of Sandra's Closet with Tommy Hilfiger BHI Bag

For the social media campaign, I was asked to show the content of my bag. I truly love the different very useful features of this versatile fashionable companion such as many pockets, a keychain with red, white and blue tassels, a detachable tan strap that allows for use as a shoulder bag.

Hilfiger Bag

Here is what I in general carry around with me on a daily basis: Something to read like L’Officiel Switzerland, my iPad and iPhone (don’t you love my new Vanity mirror iPhone 5 cover by Moschino?!), a notebook by Smythson and my pen by Montblanc, a pair of sunglasses, credit cards and some cash, my make-up pouch filled with lipgloss, blush and a powder for quick retouches and of course my little Leica with which I capture all those moments I share with you on my blog.

I was asked to donate one item from the content of my bag and I would like to give this beautiful necklace with a key charm by Patrizia Pepe as a mojo. In the end of the social media campaign, one breast cancer patient gets the bag filled with little surprises from all around the globe.

Shopping for a good cause. Ladies, I am asking you what can be better?! Please help to support Tommy Hilfiger’s wonderful initiative and let’s all walk around with this must-have bag!
