The launch of VOGUE ARABIA is not only a milestone for the Arab fashion scene, it is a milestone for the world of print and online media itself. In a historic move for a Vogue magazine edition, it first launched as a digital website in October 2016 before focusing on print from Spring 2017.
Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz, Editor-in-Chief Vogue Arabia.
The magazine will be distributed in several Middle East countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz is the Editor-in-Chief of the 22nd edition of Vogue. The publication is a partnership between Condé Nast and Dubai-based media company Nervora.
In the beginning of this month, I had the honor to receive the first print edition as an exclusive preview and I absolutely adore this issue, which is published in Arabic and English. The cover features model Gigi Hadid, who is half Palestinian and half Dutch, photographed by Inez and Vinoodh. Visually, undoubtedly this is one of the best Vogue covers of all time.
“In one poised photograph, she communicates a thousand words to a region that’s been waiting far too long for its Vogue voice to speak,” says the Editor-in-Chief, Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz.
Arabia’s fashion awakening is here. Stay tuned for more.

«You use the way you dress to give a message to someone else. So I don’t understand why sometimes it becomes so controversial.» – Franca Sozzani
She was much-loved, Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani passed away in Milan on Thursday after a year-long illness. She was only 66 years old.
Franca Sozzani in her home office in Milan.
Having led the magazine for 28 years, she has transformed Vogue Italia into a platform for honoring the power of the image and of photography. For me, she has always been an idol with her great style, the long wavy blond hair and her warm-hearted and elf-like appearance. She was very open, never shied away from pop culture, gifting Kim Kardashian her first Vogue appearance and defending fashion bloggers well before they were an established part of the industry.
Always smiling, never pretentious, Franca front row.
A modern woman, who combined motherhood and business. She was extremely close to her only son, Francesco Carrozzini, who in the final year of her life directed a well-respected documentary about her, which commentators described as a love letter between a mother and a child. He was at her side when she died.
With her beloved son Francesco Carrozzini.
The fashion world has lost an icon. RIP Franca – you will be missed!

With the fall season right around the corner, it is the perfect time of the year for entertaining. I love throwing a theme soiree in an intimate gathering. I am not the most dedicated chef, but I absolutely adore table settings and decorations. For this photo shoot (for SI Style Magazine), I went for an Asian inspired theme (most pieces available at Jelmoli).
How to get started? First, of course, with your invites. Having an accurate guest count is essential for a dinner party, especially if you are planning on having some special surprises like personalized napkins for your friends to take home (available for order at Kids and the City). I like to tie ribbons around them to match the color theme of the night.
Personally speaking, a beautiful table setting is like the canvas for a perfect meal. On the morning before the event, I love going to the flower market and getting fresh blooms. I usually place them in the center as well as in small pots and vases everywhere in the room. My rule is to keep all flowers and candle low enough that guests can have great conversations over them. Very important is that you stay with non-scented candles since you don’t want to interfere with the tastes and smells of your food.
Once your guests have arrived, relax and enjoy the good company, delightful ambiance, and delicious food you put so much work into. It’s time for the hostess to enjoy, too!

First of all, let me tell you, I hate sun creams. For me, it is something I have to apply to protect my skin but cannot be bothered too much with. So my ideal solution is to use it once and be protected the whole day.
La Roche-Posay ANTHELIOS XL CREAM SPF 50 (50ml, CHF 30.00) has become my favorite. It is perfect for sensitive and sun intolerant skin, very water-resistant and its UVA protection twice stricter than the European recommendation (for sun care) thanks to its patented and photostable filtering system Mexoplex®. Its moisturising velvety texture leaves no white marks and works for the body as well as for the face! The range includes also a BB (50ml, CHF 30.00) and a Blur cream (40ml, CHF 30.00), both with SPF 50.
Like this, you can enjoy the sun to the fullest and read our big summer issue of L’Officiel Switzerland that is now at the newsstands nationwide.
Happy Weekend!

Black and white. With the iconic colour combination that has become his signature, Karl Lagerfeld restrains the chromatic palette like no other. However, this season, the designer has decided to have some fun with colour, splashing the most intense shades into an accessory capsule collection. Introducing Karl Kolor: a series of bags, minaudières, watches, scarves, glasses, shoes and toys in the brightest hues imaginable.
Here you see me wearing some of his radiantly colourful pieces that cheerfully enhance the season’s looks. Proud to be a Karl Kid! Thanks for the feature in the new issue of KARL DAILY.
My look: Odina leather biker jacket, Ricci frill sleeveless dress, Bow feodora, Karl Kolor shopper and Melissa pumps, all by Karl Lagerfeld. Monocle gold-plated earrings by Maria Black, diamond ring by Vainard Fine Jewellery.
