The Pillow Boot

You can already tell that it’s going to be an eye-catching shoe! Louis Vuitton‘s iconoclastic Pillow boot, presented on the S/S 2021 runway, is all about paradoxes: its large, comfortable shape conceals a well-structured inside, ensuring perfect foot hold while the extremely light, notched sole and the waterproof nylon lining are among its highly technical features. The Pillow boot also asserts a compromise-free style, reflecting the House’s aesthetic codes: the Monogram livens up the lining and laces, whilst the elegant Louis Vuitton tag enhances the shoe’s upper.

Louis Vuitton Pillow Boot

Suitable for both winter and summer wear, the Pillow boot will be available from 2nd December in three shades: black, white and khaki.

Christian Louboutin Astro Pointue 85 Stiletto Gloss Boot

If you belong more to «team high heels», you won’t have to miss out on the cozy factor. With a glossy patent finish and drawstring closure, these Christian Louboutin heeled boots bring a unique puffer-style silhouette to your feet. Available now in red and black.

Louis Vuitton Game On Collection

Fashion is a game. Presented during Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2021 Collection by Artistic Director of Women’s Collections Nicolas Ghesquière, Game On sees creative freedom playing with canvas and lines mingling between the Monogram flowers and four suits of a card deck. French actor and Louis Vuitton ambassador Léa Seydoux embodies this new collection and jumps into a fantasy illusion where clubs bloom, spades pierce, diamonds sparkle, and the almighty heart reigns. Through a transversal collection, Game On plays its ace on the House’s most iconic pieces including leather goods, ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories.

Game On Canvas sees the Monogram reinterpreted on a black or white background with contrasting colours of bright blue and poppy red – a tiny heart replaces the House’s signature blossom. Here, the Petite Malle and Vanity PM in black and white make for an eye-catching statement. The geometric Square bag in white leather with a golden chain ups the ante.

The Dauphine, Speedy, Neverfull, and Keepall in Game On Monogram are adorned with enlarged suits of cards, giant hearts and blossoms in vivid red, blue, pink and purple, paired with golden hardware. A pair of Archlight trainers in white with leather trimmings sport a bright red heart, perfect to pair with the Paname bags duo. The queen of hearts, the Monogram Heart bag, stands true to its name as the first ever heart shaped bag. Raising the stakes, Capucines BB in white Taurillon leather and the Twist in white Epi leather complete this game of illusion.

My three favorites: Dauphine, Speedy and the Archlight trainers.

A royal flush, the collection expresses a particular art of living that keeps the trunk-making heritage alive. It’s the symbolism of a deck of cards, the traveller’s loyal companion, endless entertainment that cultivates togetherness. Game On is a lighthearted adventure in which all of the House’s spheres of expertise play a role, driven by passionate craftsmanship, their winning hand.

Already available in selected Louis Vuitton stores worldwide.

Bags, Shoes and Accessories Trends F/W 2020

With a new season arriving in stores, there’s no doubt we’re getting all excited about the newest must-haves of bags, shoes and accessories. Here is a summary what ruled on the runways and is guaranteed to be all over the feeds this winter season.

LoL, Sandra

Lengthy fringe finishes will ensure you receive lots of compliments for your new bag. Fringes are one of the biggest trends for the new season.

Considering the popularity of Bottega Veneta’s Pouch clutch, it was only a matter of time before other brands took on the trend for soft, handheld bags.

AirPod cases, mobile phone pouches or water bottle holders, those single-use mini bags are all the rage.

Why choose one fabric when you can have many? Patchwork featuring carefully spliced leathers and suedes were carried in a multitude of runway shows.

While chokers have been popular in seasons past, this fall sees chunky pieces with chains and mixed metals so you don’t have to choose between silver and gold anymore.

Harnesses are guaranteed to amplify any fall look, promise!

The tie is breaking down all current stereotypical gender norms.

This season, it’s finally time to invest in a pair of fab gloves you’ll keep for ages.

Get your snood ready. The head covering was everywhere for fall.

We will be staying warm this winter. Knee-high socks are a must this season.

A boot that lets you dominate in both the boardroom and bedroom.

The probably most instagrammable footwear trend: charming bows adorn the most beautiful heels.

From boots to heels, the popular chunky chain jewelry trend stays for another season.

Perfect for the next zoom meeting at home for work, this fluffy and furry footwear shows the current zeitgeist.

Chunky lug soles and nineties-style platforms and flatforms are here to stay.

CHANEL’s Two-Tone Slingback Shoe

For CHANEL’s Paris – 31 rue Cambon Métiers d’Art 2020 show, models wore iconic shoes with a black toe, an 8cm heel and revisited proportions.

Mademoiselle called them pumps. «They are the final touch of elegance», she used to say. To perfect the silhouette that Gabrielle Chanel introduced to the world, it was necessary to create a shoe that went with any outfit, one that was elegant, could be worn morning to night, and was suited to the new lifestyle of women.

The Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida surrounded by CHANEL House models wearing suits and two-tone shoes (1964, F/W Haute Couture).

In 1957, Mademoiselle Chanel created the two-tone slingback shoe in beige and black. It created a highly graphic effect: the beige lengthened the leg while the black shortened the foot. Whereas shoes had previously been made in a single color that matched the color of one’s clothing, Mademoiselle Chanel once again overturned the codes of fashion by pairing beige and black with all outfits. In her words, «You leave in the morning wearing beige and black, you have lunch in beige and black, and you attend a cocktail party wearing beige and black. You’re dressed for the entire day!» Chanel’s slingback shoe experienced instant success. It varied in style, offering versions with a straighter or thinner heel and a rounded, square or pointed toe.

The beautiful heels for CHANEL’s Paris – 31 rue Cambon Métiers d’Art 2020 show were produced at Massaro.

Mademoiselle Chanel improved its comfort with the help of Massaro (which has remained Chanel’s custom shoe brand to this day) by adding an elastic strap. Located «just steps away from Rue Cambon,» the Massaro workshop continues to create all of the footwear creations for Chanel’s Haute Couture and Métiers d’Art collections. Starting with his very first collection, Karl Lagerfeld had channeled his talent to modernize this model. The two-tone shoe thus lends itself to a myriad of metamorphoses. In just one season, it may be transformed into a ballerina slipper, boot or sandal without losing any of its original spirit. «It’s become the most modern of shoes and makes beautiful legs,» Karl Lagerfeld explained many years ago.

Virginie Viard at CHANEL’s Paris – 31 rue Cambon Métiers d’Art 2020 show finale.

This season, Virginie Viard continued the legacy and created in my eyes one of the It-shoes of the season, comfortable and stylish in one. I love mine and will show you how I wore them on all my recent travels around Europe. They are available now for CHF 900.

Prada x adidas Originals = Prada Superstar

After the first drop in December 2019, Prada and adidas Originals unveil the second part of their collaboration and propose a timeless, eternal classic, reengineered for the now – the Superstar. Now retailing alone, the iconic Superstar style is offered in a trio of new colorways: monochrome black, white with black, and chrome silver with white. For a new decade, a new point of view.

This step of the ongoing collaboration between Prada and adidas emphasizes qualities shared by and synonymous with each: collaboration, innate respect for heritage, a passion for sport. Craftsmanship is at the heart of the Prada Superstar sneaker – executed by Prada’s footwear specialists, fusing the lexicon of luxury with the language of high-performance sportswear in a style of shoe that has always been, in and of itself, unique and groundbreaking.

The streamlined silhouette of the adidas Originals Superstar sneaker – an inherently modern, entirely unisex design, first created in 1969 – is translated into full-grain leather. Its origins – Made in Italy – are heat-stamped into the side, a marker of superlative quality appreciated around the world, alongside the dual logos of Prada and adidas Originals, which appear together on the tongue of every pair. The fundamental character of the Superstar remains unchanged: it is a style icon, a timeless item which does not call for re-design, but rather provokes reconsideration.

The importance of handiwork and of craft, over everything, is underscored in the campaign, a fantastical, surreal reimagining of the actual process of creation of the Prada Superstar. Toying with scale through a miniature recreation of Prada’s manufacturing spaces in Le Marche region, the viewer can observe the final painstaking touches being made to each new colorway. The Superstar here is super-scale – this interplay of proportions magnifies and emphasizes the instantly-recognizable features of the Superstar – the triple-stripe, trefoil, and rubber shell toe – as well as the addition of the dual Prada and adidas Originals logos.

The new Prada Superstar will launch starting from 8 September 2020, via Prada boutiques and adidas flagship stores worldwide, alongside selected wholesalers. The range is also available via prada.com and adidas.com.

The partnership of Prada and adidas will develop and flourish. The next facet of this collaboration is linked to the America’s Cup – an expression of a mutual love for and enthusiastic participation in the arena of sport by both Prada and adidas.

Comprised of four new footwear styles, each available in two colorways, this capsule collection channels a sophisticated yet eye-catching aesthetic capturing Chen’s unmistakable way through bold and colorful graphics.

Angel Chen

Angel Chen is quickly becoming one of the brightest creative talents to emerge from China’s nascent fashion scene. The name behind the brand, Angel Chen, moved to London at the age of 17 to study at the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s College of Arts and Design.

During her placement year, she interned for Marchesa, Vera Wang and Alexander Wang in New York. Angel Chen’s colorful approach to fashion coupled with a core-concept of fusion of Eastern
and Western aesthetics has made it a noticeable bright young label. This remains the case with each new collection she puts out under the eponymous brand founded in 2014, which she describes as «innovative, colorful, unrestrained and expressive.»

These four words could equally be applied to Angel Chen’s first team up with adidas, which takes the form of four new footwear styles. Each is presented in two colorways and, in their brightly playful execution, channel the mood and look of 80s and 90s fashion.

The capsule collection draws inspiration from Chinese calligraphy while celebrating China’s successes and cultural reasonance in sports such as Ping Pong, Kungfu and Diving. Each bold style features colourful contemporary graphics and exaggerated silhouettes.

Angel‘s newly gained international recognition resulted in highly anticipated commercial
collaborations for Angel Chen with H&M and M.A.C.; and most recently with adidas Originals. Stocked internationally at 70 retailers, including Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges, Lane Crawford, Net-A-Porter and Galeries Lafayette, Angel Chen is part of a new wave of young brands
