The COCO BEACH collection is CHANEL’s unique expression of life by the coast. This season, the timeless stripes of Gabrielle Chanel’s beloved sailor top are reinterpreted with a new play on proportions, as big square sunglasses. Both lightweight and comfortable, this acetate design has a two-tone seventies vibe – peach and pastel yellow or pink and black – echoing the prints in the collection.
Caught between sea and city, this collection will be available in boutiques from June 2024.

The internationally acclaimed artist and photographer and my neighbor Michel Comte has created the exclusive MC Eyewear eyewear collection in collaboration with the innovative Zurich eyewear store Optiker Zwicker. A connection rooted in a random encounter in a vintage shop to a long-standing passion for unique eyewear, the joint venture sets new standards in design and individuality – a true testament to Comte’s lifelong dedication and the traditional expertise of Optiker Zwicker.
Michel Comte with me in his atelier
Comte, who photographed icons such as Louise Bourgeois, Miles Davis, Jeremy Irons and Karl Lagerfeld, was 18 years old, when he had his first custom made glasses at Optiker Zwicker. After meeting Yves Saint-Laurent for the first time at Kronenhalle restaurant in Zurich, he was immediately drawn to the designer’s eyewear that immediately after, Michel Comte designed his first pair of glasses and had them made by the oldest optician in Zurich. Since then, Comte has created his own pairs of glasses at different places and at different times.
Michel Comte: «Today I’m back in my hometown and am lucky enough to be working with optician Zwicker – where it all began – and launching a special eyewear collection. The glasses in this new collection are for people who want to make a statement. They are for everyone who knows that glasses not only improve vision, but also underline their personality.»
The MC Eyewear eyewear collection currently includes three models: Nearco, Luna and Bianca – each named after important figures in Comte’s life. Nearco was his racehorse in the 1970s, Luna was his dog while living in Los Angeles, and Bianca, his Himalayan cat, was named in honor of social and human rights activist Bianca Jagger. Further designs are already being planned. Each frame is designed in Switzerland and carefully made from acetate in Germany in Wissing. The frames can be worn as both optical glasses and sunglasses. The cost of a model is around CHF 1,250.
The MC Eyewear collection is now available exclusively at Optiker Zwicker am Paradeplatz in Zurich.

First spotted on the S/S 2024 runway, the new LV Split Cat-Eye frames put a distinctive spin on an iconic sunglass style.
The mask features an original twist to classic sunglasses, with its lenses’ side edges floating out of the frame to reveal a sliver of space. Disguised behind the lens and at the center front of the face a subtle Monogram flower provides femininity, while a gold LV Circle signature adds a final touch to the temples.
Offered in classic black, chic cream, and a vivid orange that nods back to the runway scenography, the LV Split Cat-Eyes signal their sleek allure from afar. Up close, these new daring and sophisticated sunglasses make an instant impression.
In stores for CHF 475.-.

An ode to freedom and movement, the S/S 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection is all about carefree sophistication, as Virginie Viard drew inspiration from the Villa Noailles in Hyères, a modernist building designed by Robert Mallet-Stevens.
References to Marie-Laure de Noailles and Gabrielle Chanel, united by their strong personalities and their intimacy with the avant-garde, can be seen in the black sunglasses with gold chains present from the very first silhouetes on the runway.
A long, flowing dress and a tweed cape were paired with sunglasses with blue light lenses and black acetate frames. Their rectangular lines are enhanced by the emblematic metal chain interlaced with leather, which extends into a long sautoir necklace. The chain also appears on an acetate sunglasses design inspired by 1990s shields.
A striped jacket and trousers punctuated by the double C inspired a pair of square sunglasses with a double bridge in acetate printed with the same geometric motif.
The CHANEL S/S 2024 eyewear collection will be available in boutiques from March.

Boarding the famous Christina O yacht in Nice this week with my new sunnies. Black and gold. These two colours, essential to the CHANEL allure, feature as a monochrome on the sunglasses in the S/S 2023 collection. A square frame and its rectangular version both come in gold or black metal. The graphic frame splits to reveals an openwork version of the letters «CHANEL», offering a contemporary line.
The glasses from the S/S 2023 collection are available exclusively in CHANEL boutiques from now.

THE PEARLS
Omnipresent on the CHANEL costume and fine jewelry, they regularly punctuate the accessories, Ready-to-Wear and Haute Couture. They are intimately linked to the history of the House and to the elegance of its founder. As sautoir necklaces proudly worn by Gabrielle Chanel, pearls have become an important element of the House vocabulary.
This season, they adorn four pairs of sunglasses and optical glasses. Rounded with a 1970s spirit, butterfly, rectangular and even pantos* in acetate, they are held in place by a removable long strand of pearls extended by a fine chain and a gold double C. Ivory, black, taupe, amber and burgundy: their pearlised shimmer is pigmented with opaque or transparent shades, in harmony with the colour of the frame. Held at the end of the temples by a logoed clasp system, the sautoir necklace can be worn in a number of ways: under the face, resting on the shoulders, or around the neck, transforming the glasses into a veritable bijou.
THE QUILTING
CHANEL continues the story that first began at the S/S 2022 Ready-to-Wear show by unveiling new sunglasses with temples swathed in the emblematic quilting of the House. In a play of contrasts, the double C is once again featured on a square frame in acetate with slightly raised lines, dressed entirely in black or in black and white two-tone.

Fashionistas watch out! Balenciaga’s futuristic range of sunglasses is hot as hell and probably Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Chiara Ferragni‘s favorite styles this season. Creative director Demna Gvasalia‘s collections continue to uphold the vision, influence and radical style of the House and even the eyewear makes a serious statement.
Elevate you summer look with the BB0157S sunglasses preferably in silver (they are also available in black). Featuring an oversized acetate frame with a tinted finish to the lenses and the classic Balenciaga logo at the side, they might not be suitable for all face shapes, but who cares?!
Balenciaga makes some dope sunglasses, and if Kim Kardashian knows it, we can rock it too!

In the spirit of the S/S 2022 show, CHANEL reinterprets a sunglasses frame symbolic of the 1990s: the shield, available this season in two graphic versions with masculine/feminine accents. These designs come in black acetate or two-tone black and white, navy blue and fuchsia or emerald green. Each one is adorned with wide temples, enhanced by quilting punctuated with mini double Cs or an oversize double C. All details that render these sunglasses a veritable fashion accessory.
«Charms» also feature on a line of sunglasses. Whether worn singular or as a trio, a camellia, pearl, heart and hexagon inspired by the stopper of the CHANEL N°5 perfume bottle adorn the temples like a playful signature. Three pairs of sunglasses make up this line: graphic butterfly, cat eye and oversized square. All adopt the classic colours of black, tortoiseshell, navy and burgundy.
A third line includes four pairs of sunglasses in oval, rectangular, aviator and shield shapes in black and burgundy, brown khaki or deep green acetate imbued with a subtle sparkle. Two double Cs combining strass and metal are overlaid on the temples of the oval and rectangular designs, while the temples of the aviator and shield designs feature a single double C in metal, set on a square of micro-strass.
A variation on the metal glasses completes the collection. Devoted to the theme of light, they focus on delicate lines of strass: one covers the bridge of an aviator, available in two sizes; another surrounds the lenses of a graphic square or rounded frame.
These glasses will be available in boutiques from March, and from April for the frames embellished with charms.
