Unbe-Leaf-Able

What if something as delicate as a Ginkgo leaf could be turned into a heel? A seemingly impossible challenge, flawlessly pulled off by this original collection which perfectly embodies Christian Louboutin’s boundless creativity.

Resembling a precious jewel thanks to its golden appearance, the Ginko heel comes in two refined silhouettes, including a sandal and a pump, in a feminine palette of pastel hues.

It all starts with a sketch
From cutting the leather to stretching it over the last, placing the famous red sole and the molded golden heel, each Ginko pump is a hand-crafted work of love requiring the skill of an expert artisan.

A question of savoir-faire
Paying tribute to nature’s innate sophistication, the Ginko heel exemplifies the artisanal skill for which the Maison is renown. Meticulously crafted, each piece is assembled by hand like a ready-to-wear work of art.

Visiting Christian Louboutin’s Paris Atelier

Yesterday I had an amazing experience with Christian Louboutin, when I visited his small atelier, the famed L’Atelier Sur Mesure, on Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, which is reserved for private customers and one-of-a-kind creations. It is located just a few doors from the first-ever Christian Louboutin store.

Most of the footwear is manufactured and produced at his factory in Milan, but here dreams come true as you can enjoy a made to measure service. This is haute couture for your feet. Here your measurements matter when you start a meticulous 8-step process to achieving the perfectly sculpted pair of shoes.

When you arrive at Christian Louboutin’s Paris Atelier, your Cinderella journey starts. Several key points of your feet will be measured. After that, precise, three-dimensional imprints are made by stepping into foam moulds.

You will have to choose which silhouette will be your base, for example the Kate or the Pigalle pumps, and you are then spoilt for choice, with the opportunity to customize your preferred silhouette, heel height, toe shape, desired material and other embellishments.

Three-dimensional foot casts are sculpted, that help the artisans to create the shoe’s first draft by hand in leather before other specialists sew and assemble the final product. This process takes months as these drafts undergo multiple reassessments and adjustments before reaching their final, impeccably finished state. Every shoe is ultimately approved by Christian Louboutin, himself and you as a client are allowed immense involvement in the entire process, through the sharing of ideas and expectation.

I personally experienced the craftsmanship to apply Swarovski crystals to the satin base of the shoe. It is such a difficult procedure and you appreciate the skills of the artisans even more.

Visiting the L’Atelier Sur Mesure was an incredible experience especially as I am obsessed with shoes.

The Loubishow

It’s not every day that Christian Louboutin takes over an iconic theatre to put on a show. Last night, the fashionable guests arrived at Le Trianon in Montparnasse. They were greeted by crowds of fans that were eagerly waiting for the K-pop stars to arrive for the event.

For last night’s F/W 2024 presentation, Louboutin threw what most people would call the party of a lifetime, the Loubishow. During the champagne reception, I indulged in the new collections on display, from amazingly embellished cowboy boots to denim models. I had also the chance to preview of the revered tradition of the annual cabas series, this year dedicated to Rio de Janeiro. Lots of sparkles and embellishments – exactly what I love!

At around 9.30pm, we were asked to go inside the theatre to enjoy the show. Sitting front row, it was a pleasure witnessing the mesmerizing dance performance happening in sparkly Louboutins. After that we enjoyed the after party. It was an absolutely amazing night.

And now time for new season shopping … Don’t forget, Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life. Below you can find my favorite new models for F/W 2024.

Clé de Peau Beauté Press Lunch

Last week, I attended the Clé de Peau Beauté press lunch at the iconic Baur au Lac hotel in Zurich to find out about the two new launches for the eyes that I would like to present you in this post as they are absolutely amazing!

The Maison has updated the Eye Contour Cream Supreme formulation and the outcome is outstanding.

This high performing eye cream targets multiple eye concerns with immediate results. With continued use, it visibly reduces the appearance of wrinkles and dark circles, and diminishes the impression of under-eye bags and drooping of the upper eyelids. The eye area is revitalized and more youthful-looking.

Clé de Peau Beauté Laboratories has spent more than a decade studying how skin ages to preserve its youthfulness. They developed the exclusive Future-Sculpt Technology and proprietary blend of Golden Botanical Extracts to focus on signs of aging that have not yet appeared. The pioneering science now paves the way to skin’s future, appearing more resistant to those telltale signs.

The updated Eye Contour Cream Supreme formulation contains powerful Lempuyang Extract, five times more concentrated than previous formulas.
Derived from the nutrient-rich, slow-growing rootstock of Indonesia’s ginger plant, this extract is coveted for its revitalizing and replenishing properties – key to achieving a more youthful-looking eye area, where the skin is particularly delicate.

The new formulation has been given an added boost with the inclusion of Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, to help brighten the under-eye area. The texture is absolutely amazing, it is like a velvet veil on your skin.

Available for CHF 290 (15ml).

By achieving a formulation that blends pigments with skincare ingredients, Clé de Peau Beauté offers a new dimension of eye make-up with the new Eye Color Solo shadows, that are able to deliver both lasting color and moisture. The included Light-Empowering Enhancer masterfully controls light on both the surface of the skin and beneath it. This unique formulation was created by blending  a skincare ingredient, Skin-Empowering Illuminator MK, into a gelatinized oil with luminous pigments. The new eyeshadows deliver an eight-hour moisture while providing 12-hour luminous finish. They can be easily applied with your fingertips thanks to a perfect texture.

From seaside inspiration to seamless application, the six new shades are inspired by the sea and the beauty surrounding it.

From left to right front: Pink Ocean Dawn – Toasty Sand – Deep Blue Ocean
From left to right back: Glistening Pearl – Sunkissed Coral

My favorite shade: Deep Sea Amethyst

The refillable cases are available for CHF 51.00 in the beginning of March.

Louis Vuitton – Cruise 25 Show in Barcelona

Louis Vuitton will showcase its Cruise 2025 fashion show in Barcelona on the 23rd of May 2024, one of its multiple collaborative actions with the Catalan capital. These actions notably involve the organisation of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Barcelona, including the Louis Vuitton Cup qualifying session, to begin in summer 2024.

Steeped in tradition and innovation – with the «Art of Travel» at its core – Louis Vuitton has staged shows across the globe at world-renowned locations and landmarks of architectural significance, paying homage to art and local culture. Previously, the Maison has held its Cruise shows at venues including John Lautner’s Bob & Dolores Hope Estate in Palm Springs, Oscar Niemeyer’s Contemporary Art Museum in Niterói, I.M. Pei’s Miho Museum near Kyoto, the Salk Institute in California, and Isola Bella on Lake Maggiore among others.

The upcoming Cruise Fashion Show will take place in a location in Barcelona to be revealed at a later date.

Louis Vuitton’s store on Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona

The Maison’s latest stop in the Catalan capital brings guests and viewers to a major cultural centre and tourist destination. Nestled on the border of the Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona is undoubtedly one of the most vibrant and dynamic destinations in Europe.

«It is an immense pleasure to collaborate with the city of Barcelona sharing common values with Louis Vuitton that are deeply anchored into a remarkable heritage and the passion for creativity. The upcoming Cruise fashion show, encapsulating Women’s Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière’s vision for the collection, as well as the upcoming Louis Vuitton Cup and the 37th America’s Cup will undoubtfully capture Louis Vuitton’s long-standing relationship with Barcelona and the Catalan region in the most ultimate way.» says Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton Cruise 2023 Collection at the Salk Institute

Along with the show, Louis Vuitton will also celebrate the LV Cup and the 37th edition of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Barcelona with multiple events such as hospitality, an exhibition, and cultural activations with guests from around the world. Additionally, Louis Vuitton will launch its much-anticipated City Guide for Barcelona alongside a cultural pop-up kiosk and event. Barcelona and Louis Vuitton are also working on educational programmes to support creativity and design in the city. Louis Vuitton’s relationship with Barcelona dates back from the beginning of the 20th century as the Maison played an active role at the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition, bringing together industry, art, and innovation.

For its third Cruise collection presentation, Louis Vuitton traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2017.

Georges Vuitton (Louis Vuitton’s son) was a member of the jury and was also awarded a grand prize for his toiletry cases. Louis Vuitton opened its first store in Spain in the city of Barcelona in 1987 and now has two stores in the Catalan capital. Louis Vuitton’s footprint extends to the Catalonia region, well-known for its great leather savoir-faire tradition, where the Maison opened its first workshop in 1990 and now operates six leather goods workshops in Catalunya employing over 1800 people.

I am very excited for this show.

My Look: Maybe

Maybe it is not in the perfection of life that things make sense, but in the chaos. This can also apply to an outfit. Sometimes I like to mix and match unexpected things. The chaos can create perfection. With much love from Gstaad Palace.
