The Heritage Collection by Closed

Action Denim

As a clothing brand, Closed dates back to the late Seventies and originated out of Italy. The brand quickly captured the market with their new denim design approach which has been the first alternative to ordinary 5-pocket jeans.

Denims and chinos are Closed’s core competences. The idea behind every new design is “form follows function”and this approach resulted in the DNA of the brand – the X-Pockets.

Now available is the Heritage collection which offers casual styles for a great price. Below you can see how cute those pieces can look.

And the clutch by Jeremy Scott would be a hilarious addition to your Closed look…

Prada Resort 2011

Today, we move a little further ahead to Resort 2011 season that will hit the stores in the end of the year. I am completely taken by the beautiful presentation of the Prada collection and wanted to share those amazing photos with you.

The common theme of the collection was a combination of preppy gypsy and the groomed eras of the `30s and `40s.

You can choose from the polished lady in a floral printed tea dress to the tomboy in baggy denim pants to the military styled adventuress.

The breadth of Miuccia Prada`s designs was unbelievable, such an outstanding abundance of options has rarely been seen at the Italian fashion house.

Especially the accessories showed a large versatility, the oversized hoop earrings in bright colours along with the ballerina ribbons are among my favourites.

Add a little perversion with a fox stole thrown over a bathing suit and off you go.

By the way, the new shape of bags that was introduced on the F/W 2010 runways is going to stay for Resort 2011 (see photo to the right). So a really good investment!

Jonathan Saunders for Topshop

Saunders for Topshop

Today Jonathan Saunders will be launching his fourth collaboration with Topshop. The pieces are not as colourful as expected but  feature classic silhouettes with dazzling denim aspects that are definitely great buys for less money. Whilst he seems to develop a new clean form of geometric shapes and graphic, almost architectural patterns, print is still major to his designs. The designer collaborations will be available at the following Topshop stores: Oxford Circus, Liverpool and Manchester Arndale, as well as Selfridges in London, and online: www.topshop.com.

Far Western Chic

Modern Cowgirl

Far Western chic is a must for next summer. Seen on the S/S 2010 runways were pretty cowgirls, pioneers of the prairies, lumberjack`s girlfriends and a new sort of trappers.

Especially D&G made a superb collection of versatile western references. The silhouettes were made of looks reminding me of Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau in the movie Viva Maria” or Penelope Cruz and Selma Hayek in the remake “Bandidas”. Denim, suede and eyelet were used – definite key elements for next season. But also Amerindian inspirations like navajo prints, lucky charms, feathers and tassels appeared along with stetsons, bandanas and broad belts. The inspirations and designs were numerous, only lassos and spurs were missing.

Denim Bandidas

Lumberjack`s plaid shirts were transformed into cocktail dresses and denim was pervasive in all sort of styles. Faded, worn out, mended mixed with cut-out suede, a sexy look that creates immediate seduction.

Come on, cowgirls, let`s go west!
