Today, legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor has died at age 79 of congestive heart failure surrounded by her four children at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The violet-eyed film goddess, whose sultry screen persona, stormy personal life and enduring fame made her one of the last of the old-fashioned movie stars, was born with two rows of eyelashes, something which got her noticed as a young girl, and helped to land her an interview with Universal Studios. Isn’t that a cool mutation that we all would love to have?!
A two time Oscar winner (for “Butterfield 8” in 1960 and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” in 1966), Taylor was also known for her eight high profile marriages. She loved diamonds and glamourous outfits. Please enjoy my little homage to a beautiful lady that might inspire you to add a little drama to your closet.
Taylor’s son, Michael Wilding, released a statement on the passing that I truly loved and would like to share with you:
“My Mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love. Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman, and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS, all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished. We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts.”
