My Look: New Year’s Eve at the Palace

Following my tradition, I spent New Year’s Eve at the Gstaad Palace hotel with my dear friends and family. «It’s not a fairytale, it’s real.» The hotel’s slogan describes perfectly how a stay at the Palace feels like.

My Look: Stay Cozy

Stay cozy – something I love to do during my stays at Gstaad Palace where I took these photos by myself with the timer of the iPhone on the balcony of my hotel suite. Sometimes when the sun comes out, I put on a hat with a wide brim for the ultimate UV protection besides sunscreen and enjoy reading and working outside. The hat elevates the look immediately from cozy to cool!

My Look: Gstaad or St Moritz

Do you enjoy skiing in the most luxurious and sought-after resorts in Switzerland? The dilemma of whether to go to Gstaad, or St. Moritz comes down to personal preference. I used to spend my winters in St. Moritz for many years but today I prefer Gstaad.

The beautiful Gstaad Palace is my home away from home and those photos were taken inside the La Fromagerie restaurant that offers delicious cheese treats and other Swiss specialities. The Alpine resort’s blend of glamour, lifestyle, sport and pristine nature outshines everything. However you are far more certain of getting snow in December in St Moritz than Gstaad. Both have a high profile social scene. St. Moritz, touted as the ski resort «on top of the world,» and Gstaad advertises with «come up and slow down». The choice is yours and the look would work for both.

My look: Argyle-pattern rollneck jumper and matching argyle jacquard midi skirt, both by Balmain, St. Moritz Voyage appliquéd embroidered canvas clutch by Olympia Le Tan, Alminette red suede pumpsicon by Christian Louboutin, and classic large Impatiens earrings by Oscar de la Renta.

My Look: The Lobby

I am invited to Gstaad this weekend for a fun birthday / wedding anniversary celebration. It feels good to go back to my home away from home, even though my favorite hotel, the Gstaad Palace, already closed for the summer season. When people ask me why I love this hotel so much, the explanation is easy. Everything that happens in Gstaad, happens at the Palace. The lobby is a vibrant yet cozy place where you can sit for hours to enjoy great conversations, amazing food with your friends or people who might have just met.

My Look: GreenGo

This week my favorite hotel, my home away from home, the famous Gstaad Palace hotel opens its doors again for the summer season. Such great news as I cannot wait to be back. We have already booked our stay in winter. Hopefully, the GreenGo club will also be open again by then. Personally speaking it is one of my favorite night clubs in the world and I am looking forward to dancing again to the sound of DJ Jim Leblanc. With its unparalleled design, an unbelievable dancefloor floating above a swimming pool, every night is one to remember. My outfit is definitely ready …

My Look: Oh!

Oh! Wait.. how old am I? Probably too old for being in the playroom of Gstaad Palace hotel. However, I still have that inner child in me which also translates from time to time in my choice of fashion. Candy colors, soft shapes, and cute prints have always attracted me, as they are providing a grown-up way to add a playful edge to any look. The key to staying young? Not growing old in your mind!

My Look: La Grande Dame

The past twelve months have been challenging, forcing most people to adapt to new realities. However, when you start progressing it’s all worth it. Do not bury your head in the sand – especially despite COVID 19. Instead find joy in the little things. It is also the time to find great opportunities but you may have to leave where you are comfortable.

I am very grateful for my life, for everything I have been blessed with, and all those beautiful moments and encounters I experienced in the past months. Everything has its advantages and disadvantages, you just have to make the best out of your very own situation. I was lucky to spend the past three months at the beautiful Gstaad Palace hotel, where life felt kind of normal.

Sometimes, I would sit in the lobby and indulge in a glass of champagne, cherishing the moment and thanking the universe for this privilege. Having a glass of bubbly has always been my treat, a moment for myself. One of my favorite champagnes is Veuve Cliquot‘s La Grande Dame, that has been created in homage to Madame Clicquot (1777 – 1866), one of the world’s first international businesswomen. Known in her time as «la Grande Dame de la Champagne», she took on her husband’s wine business when widowed at 27. Despite the challenging circumstances, the young lady didn’t bury her head in the sand. Under her ownership, she created the famous brand that still bears her name, «Veuve Cliquot» (veuve means widow in French). Thanks to her skill with wine,  she invented the riddling process, which involves bottles being placed upside down on a riddling rack. Everyday the bottles are gently shaken and turned. This method is still used by modern champagne makers.

In the glass, La Grande Dame 2008 has a light golden hue. After opening up, the nose reveals notes of dried fruit – almonds, figs, apricot – ripe white fruit (pear) and subtle toasted notes of hazelnut and praline. In the mouth the attack is powerful and sharp. The Pinot Noir stands out with its freshness, mineral notes and power. With 92%, it is the highest percentage of the grape ever used since the founding of the Maison.

It is also the Year of the Ox. What will it bring? Will things improve, or are we in for another rough ride? Zodiac experts believe the Year of the Ox is a period when hard work will be rewarded even more than usual. This has been interpreted by many as a great opportunity. They say knowledge is power, and it’s true. You won’t find opportunity without knowledge. Spending the extra time you might have due to the current deceleration with reading and learning something new, might be rewarded in the end.

Being open to new things is the key to staying young in my opinion. In terms of fashion – this is still an outfit post – I tried for the first time wearing something in latex. Skin-tight with a wet look shine, latex leggings are a unique eye-catcher. Although is quite an hassle to put the them on on, they are the most comfortable thing in the world and feel like a second skin. Great side effect –  your skin is so soft after taking them off. The combination with the checked blazer and blouse balances out the sexiness and adds a ladylike appeal. I am absolutely in love with this look – feeling like a grande dame!

My Look: New Year

I celebrated New Year’s Eve in grand style at the beautiful Gstaad Place hotel with friends. Towering over the village of Gstaad, the address offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Swiss Alps, and always the best parties with unique service. Even if we weren’t allowed to dance, the celebration was great and we still managed to move on our seats.

I wore this beautiful black Monique Lhuillier gown inspired by classic ’50s couture. It has a guipure lace bodice trimmed with a waist-cinching satin sash and a frothy tulle skirt that’s discreetly padded to create all that volume.

My Look: Satin-trimmed guipure lace and tulle gownicon by Monique Lhuillier, zodiac embroidered appliquéd canvas clutchicon by Olympia Le-Tan, Kate 100 suede pumpsicon by Christian Louboutin, crystal-embellished snake necklace, and silver-tone crystal clip earringsicon, both by Alessandra Rich, bracelets and Panthère de Cartier Manchette 22mm 18-karat rose gold and diamond watchicon, all by Cartier.
