10KTF Gucci Grail

A crystal ball heralds its arrival. Mysterious and fascinating, the magical globe is the gift the digital avatar of Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s Creative Director, offers Wagmi-san, world renowned digital artisan who has invited the designer – already on a journey towards new paradigms and forms of creativity – to his virtual shop in New Tokyo.

We cannot resist using the lexicon of fairy tales to describe ‘10KTF Gucci Grail’, the new initiative happening in Vault’s experimental space. In collaboration with digital accessory shop 10KTF, Gucci has created ad hoc digital outfits designed by Alessandro Michele and created by Wagmi-san to dress PFPs from eleven selected NFT collections including Bored Ape, World of Women, Cool Cats and many others. The «PFP» acronym stands for ‘Picture For Proof’, a NFT version of a profile photo, used by collectors both as their portrait and as extreme expressions of artistic and technological talent. The encounter between Wagmi-san and Alessandro Michele generates two custom Gucci looks, available in different colors, inspired respectively by the Aria and Love Parade collections, for those who aspire to express their individuality through fashion in the parallel digital worlds.

The House is already present in the realm of NFTs, the ‘Non-Fungible Tokens‘ that have transformed our experience of art, sublimating it into immaterial digital works. Acquiring personalised virtual garments also involves several steps, not unlike the actual process of securing a designer creation (which requires several fittings).

Over the past few days, the crystal ball has been accessible to three groups of people – those who already own a PFP; those who are members of the Gucci Vault community on the Discord server, and those who already ‘inhabit’ New Tokyo, where artisan Wagmi-san lives. Those who redeemed their crystal ball were able to choose between the different Gucci looks artfully tailored by Wagmi-san and receive their customized digital avatar.

With only a limited number of users involved, this project has the feel of a unique work: «10KTF Gucci Grail» not only highlights the individuality of each person, but it also unveils the huge, spectacular potential of virtual realities, enabling us to design a digital identity in an alternative world. To be dressed for the metaverse is to have another self that Vault allows us to generate through the codes of Gucci.

My Look: Congratulations

Greetings from beautiful London and congratulations to all the designers on an amazing fashion month –  that took place in person again! I can’t believe how quickly time flies and how fast the world is turning and changing. For the past two years we were confronted with a pandemic, now we are facing a war. Personally speaking, it makes me even feel more grateful for my life and the wonderful travels and experiences I had in the past weeks. Therefore I would like to show you as many beautiful things as I can as a welcome distraction to all the bad news.

This outfit is all about mixing and matching logos with tweed. Something you will see a lot for the next winter season. So better to get started on time… However, the highlight of the look are the recognizable Knife boots that are reimagined in Gucci‘s maxi GG stretch jersey.

My look: GG-Supreme cotton-blend canvas coaticon, checked tweed jacketicon, and matching checked tweed shortsicon, ruffled silk-crepe de Chine blouseicon, and The Hacker Project Knife boots, all by Gucci, pearl necklace and dark blue 2.55 bag in velvet, both by CHANEL.

Unite Women

Celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8, we honor the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Looking at the news right now, I wish we could unite women to have more female presidents leading countries worldwide. I am truly convinced we would have a better world. To all those strong and amazing women out there, this day belongs to you!

My Look: Stay Cozy

Stay cozy – something I love to do during my stays at Gstaad Palace where I took these photos by myself with the timer of the iPhone on the balcony of my hotel suite. Sometimes when the sun comes out, I put on a hat with a wide brim for the ultimate UV protection besides sunscreen and enjoy reading and working outside. The hat elevates the look immediately from cozy to cool!

My Look: The New Muse

The new muse … Founded in New York City by designers Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk in 2014, AREA was named after the pioneering New York nightclub of the same name. As design students at Parsons the two creative minds bonded over a mutual love of ’80s glamour and feminine silhouettes. I feel so inspired by the  label’s high-octane embellishments.

My look: Cropped crystal-embellished checked cotton and wool-blend blazericon by AREA, distressed wide embellished paperback jeans by Miu Miu, suede-trimmed crystal-embellished mesh slingback pumps by Gucci, Cloud crystal-embellished suede clutch by Jimmy Choo, Cosette crystal-embellished velvet headbandicon by Jennifer Behrlarge crystal drop choker necklace by Alessandra Rich, and Big Bang All Black Zermatt by Hublot.

My Look: Party

It’s weekend – time to party, I miss those carefree days when we were dancing the night away. Dancing is literally my favorite thing to so and the best way to burn of those fondue calories. Unfortunately, Gstaad Palace‘s famous GreenGo hasn’t opened its doors this season (only for me to take these photos). So I can only dream how I would dress up to be a dancing queen.

My look: Belted silk-cady wide-leg jumpsuit, and VSLING small floral-print textured-leather shoulder bagicon, both by Valentino, Angel leather platform sandals by Gucci, black bow brooch by CHANEL,  silver-tone crystal clip earringsicon by Alessandra Rich, and rose diamond ring by Piaget.

Gucci – Year of the Tiger

Early February will see the Year of the Ox draw to a close and the Year of the Tiger begin. The slow, gentle and hardworking nature of the ox, which manifested the mood of 2021, will be replaced by the speed, strength and power of the tiger in 2022.

In celebration of the holiday, different versions of the animal define a curated selection of ready-to-wear and accessories—highlighting the multifaceted nature of the Gucci universe. Rich with significance for the House, the animal expresses the Creative Director’s fascination with the beauty of nature.
