My Look: Bridgerton

Binged Bridgerton yet? The ostentatious period drama set in the Regency Era has me looking through my closet and the fashions of the time. Here is today’s outfit inspired by my new favorite Netflix series shot in my room at the Gstaad Palace hotel.

My look: Ruffled velvet-trimmed floral brocade peplum jacket by Brock Collection, Alejandro ruffled-panel cropped jeans by Ellery, Mage metallic embroidered velvet ankle bootsicon by Manolo Blahnik, Himalaya Niloticus crocodile Birkin bag by Hermès, chain necklace with bow and multi-layered pearl and metal necklace, both by CHANEL, and Panthère de Cartier Manchette 22mm 18-karat rose gold and diamond watchicon by Cartier.

Hermès Nantucket Watch

The Nantucket watch has been forming solid attachments for almost 30 years. Its story, all about links, began in 1991, when iconoclastic Hermès designer Henri d’Origny boldly sketched the outlines of a companion to the Cape Cod watch, an equally distinctive model named Nantucket.

This assertive timepiece featured a «rectangle within a rectangle», forming an unprecedented case inspired by the anchor chain links of the Chaîne d’ancre bracelet, an Hermès classic imagined by Robert Dumas in 1938.

Nantucket’s story continues today with the Chaîne d’ancre, evoking its early days. This model offers a new take on the iconic link, which merges seamlessly into a light and supple steel or rose gold bracelet. The faithful hours and minutes hands sweep over numerals whose font is also inspired by
the Chaîne d’ancre universe.

The case of the Nantucket is crafted from gold or steel in the Hermès watchmaking workshops, and freely adorned with diamonds. Light plays across the sandblasted silver-plated dial itself thanks to a sprinkle setting, or sparkles brightly in a jewellery setting around a mother-of-pearl dial. With a light and natural touch, Nantucket interweaves its own codes of rebellious elegance.

The Piano of 24 Colors by Hermès

Dear Santa, if I asked you for an instrument for Christmas this year, it would be the Piano of 24 Colors by Hermès. Indulging in a gifting extravaganza, the set is filled with 24 Rouge Hermès lipsticks designed by Pierre Hardy. The 24 number is in reference to the Hermès address in Paris, 24 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honorè, which means it could also work perfectly as an advent calendar.

The gift box that houses the lipstick collection is as long as a piano, spanning 88.3 cm. Beautifully packaged in the label’s signature orange bag in addition to the box, the collection includes all of the signature shades such as «Beige Naturel,» «Rouge Orange» and «Rose Lipstick

As Hermès Beauty’s creative director Jérôme Touron explains: «The 24 colors of our lipsticks resonate together like piano keys. Having them all to hand allows you to play endlessly

Limited to 440 boxes, the Piano of 24 Colors is available for example at Selfrigdes to order for £1400 here. A lipstick a day keeps the sorrow away!

Hermès Arceau Horse

Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the Arceau round watch lends its singular design to a new stylistic expression. Its round case with stirrup-inspired asymmetrical lugs, along with its sloping numerals evoking a galloping horse, secure its place in a timeless and playful universe.
Season after season, this discreetly elegant model, offering a quintessential expression of Hermès style showcases the full extent of artistic crafts cultivated by the Maison.

The result of Hermès’s saddlery and leathermaking expertise, 395 mini studs – individually placed on the leather dial of the new Arceau Horse – compose an equestrian motif. The meticulous studding is complemented by the delicate crafting of the black or white leather, both miniaturised to the scale of the dial. The spirited horse comes to life framed by a steel case set with 100 diamonds and secured to the wrist by a calfskin strap matching the dial colour – all produced in the Hermès Horloger workshops. In a fascinating blend of understatement, brilliance and careful attention to every demanding detail, the Arceau Horse boldly flaunts its singularity both by day and by night.

I am loving it and you?

The New Way of Watch Shopping

Starting from today, NET-A-PORTERicon and MR PORTER will be the privileged multi-brand online retailers of Watches & Wonders, a global concept that celebrates watchmaking excellence throughout the world. Hosting digital and offline events, this concept will bring some of the industry’s most revered luxury watch brands to the online shopping destination’s extensive customer base, starting from today. Fourteen watchmaking Maisons will feature as part of this initiative, together for the first time.

A great example for a super informative masterclass for Net-à-Porter’s EIP clients last June.

Over the course of the campaign, NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER customers will be able to enjoy a calendar of activity, including exclusive EIP (Extremely Important Person) virtual events and small-scale appointment-based activity, virtual one-to-one appointments and interactive Instagram Live conversations hosted by NET-A-PORTER and PORTER’s Editor in Chief, Sarah Bailey, and MR PORTER’s Senior Watch Editor, Chris Hall.

In anticipation of the celebrated campaign, and in response to extensive customer research across both retailers, NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER will also introduce a number of new website enhancements to the luxury watch shopping experience, including an improved size guide and the addition of trend-driven, occasion-based and material filters. Further developments will follow in the near future.

One of my favorite watches that I got at Net-à-Porter: Panthère de Cartier Manchette 22mm 18-karat rose gold and diamond watchicon by Cartier

The arrival of Watches & Wonders on NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER marks a significant moment for the industry, bringing together the leading watch and jewellery players, and establishes the luxury retailers as the ultimate global shopping destinations for fine watches. Following on from the Watches & Wonders digital platform that occurred on NET-A-PORTER’s Tmall flagship store in April, this new initiative marks the beginning of a year-long programme and showcases a unique tri-fold industry approach to the fast-evolving luxury watch landscape.

With Alison Loehnis at a Net-à-Porter event

«By teaming up with the world’s premier watch showcase, we want to provide an international platform for the most exceptional timepieces, supporting an environment where their stories – and those of their iconic makers – can come alive and be accessed by watch lovers across the globe
Alison Loehnis, President, NET-A-PORTER & MR PORTER

NET-A-PORTERicon will introduce the latest creations from Cartier, Hermès, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger LeCoultre, Piaget and Vacheron Constantin.

Bovet’s limited-edition Dimier Recital 27 Green that will launch at Mr Porter.

MR PORTER will host a curated offering of the most recent creations from across 13 prestigious watch Maisons including Cartier, HYT and Panerai, and will introduce two new brands: Ulysse Nardin and Bovet. Ulysse Nardin will launch with eight timepieces, including the Blast Rose Gold; Bovet will launch with four timepieces, including the limited-edition Dimier Recital 27 Green.

Another beauty in my closet shopped at Net-à-Porter: Royal Oak 37mm 18-karat frosted rose gold watch by Audemars Piguet

Personally speaking, I love being an EIP at Net-à-Porter. The personal shopping department is divine and the events I have been invited to were always superb. I bought two watches for myself and I am super happy with the service provided by my favorite online retailer.

Hermès x Jay Ahr

This is perfect way to sustainably update your Hermès bag, consider having an artist take a brush or needle and thread to them. Or have a look at the amazing work of Hong Kong based designer Jonathan Riss who has a passion of giving iconic bags a second life. His brand Jay Ahr (phonetic spelling of his initials) takes luxury bags to the next level.

Jonathan Riss with one of his works @jay_ahr_
« 1969 » Vintage Hermès Kelly bag, size 28

An array of pristine condition pre-loved Hermès bags presents the perfect canvas for this ancient yet modern artwork making every piece sustainable in product and process with a story to tell. Custom embroideries are layered and interwoven into each bag, with the art piece looking like they were part of the original leather design. Riss and his team deconstruct every bag before sending each separate piece of leather to the embroiderers. Once they are finished, the bag is sewn back together using the original yarn.

This vintage Hermès Birkin bag with Shunga embroidery was especially created on behalf of Maxfield LA’s 50th anniversary. Available for $55.000. To shop, click here.

There are so many amazing pieces, see below for more:

Bandana Brown – Hermes Birkin 35

This bag is a vintage Hermès Birkin 35 in brown epsom leather first produced in 1999. The stamped- grain lightweight leather gives a structured relaxed contour. Featuring round top handles and a fold-over top with twist-lock closure.

Detailed with palladium hardware it comes with a detachable clochette with two encased keys and a padlock. From the Sanskrit word for «a bond», the bandana is inspired by the colourful Indian kerchiefs. The Bandana collection is paired with Jay Ahr’s tongue-in-cheek twist on the Hermès Twilly, in a matching bandana pattern.

Thangka Snake – Act 2 – Hermes Constance 24

A vintage Hermès Constance 24 in black box calf leather with gold plated metal hardware. The smooth box calf leather gives a glossy finish yet firm hold creating the bag’s structural lines. The bag features a versatile two-way shoulder strap and gilded ‘H’ front clasp closure.

Using this vintage Constance as a canvas, Jay Ahr presents a special interpretation of the Thangka, a Tibetan Buddhist painting on cotton or silk appliqué. The central motif features an embroidered interpretation of the snake depicted in the Raktayamari Thangka, one of the world’s great textile treasures. One of the major landmarks of early Ming dynasty textile arts, the eight snakes represent the subjugation of various obstacles and the accomplishment of skillful activities.

Welcome to the Jungle Hermès Birkin 35

This bag is a vintage Hermès Birkin 35 in white canvas with a green trim first produced in 1996. Featuring round top handles and a fold-over top with twist-lock closure. Detailed with palladium hardware it comes with a detachable clochette with two encased keys and a padlock.

On this seemingly light hearted beauty the exotic green plays host to the lyrics of Guns & Roses’ «Welcome to the Jungle». Shrouded by Jungle palm leaves creating a sense of mystery and voyeurism. The song exposes the dark side of Los Angeles many people encounter when they go there to pursue fame. The embroidered print is not contained to the canvas but carried across the bag onto the soft Ebène calf leather hiding the underworld conveyed by the song.

Nessun Dorma – Hermès Kelly Sellier 28

This bag is a vintage Hermès Kelly Sellier 28 first produced in 1973. Detailed with palladium plated hardware it comes with a detachable clochette with two encased keys and a padlock. The bag stands tall on protective feet and is carried by a single padded top handle.

Marrying musical classics with vintage classics Jay Ahr has woven the lyrics to operas, ballads and anthems.  This piece is an ode to the Italian Opera. The lyrics to «Nessun Dorma» (None shall sleep), an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot – one of the best known tenor arias in opera – grace this stunning and rare Kelly, in an embroidered interpretation of wood block stamping.

Aren’t those bags so beautiful, when fashion meets art … masterpieces can be created.

My Look: Dior Love

Dior has some renowned looks that you should consider adding to your wardrobe. The Bar jacket is one of them, an iconic New Look piece, created by Christian Dior in 1947. Reinterpreted by Maria Grazia Chiuri for S/S 2020, it is made from Tussah silk with Dior’s iconic textured houndstooth pattern. I love wearing it with the matching corolla skirt, as presented on the runway. So chic, so feminine and so French …
