Yesterday, CHANELshowed its Cruise 2014 collection for the very first time in Asia. Since 2000, CHANEL has taken the fashion world on voyages around the globe: Paris, New York, Venice, Saint-Tropez, Versaillesamong others and now Singapore.
Basked in the sun all year long – a never-ending summer, it is the ultimate tropical escape from the winters of the northern or southern hemispheres. The Loewen Cluster on Dempsey Hill, a preserved heritage site that was once a thriving nutmeg plantation, was this year’s perfect backdrop and served as the location for the show.
The night before, a private screening of Karl Lagerfeld’s new film Once Upon a Time… was held at the Raffles hotel.
The short film, written and directed by the designer himself, celebrates the 100-year anniversary of Gabrielle Chanel’s Deauville boutique. Cast in the movie is Keira Knightley playing in the lead role alongside appearances from models Baptiste Giabiconi, Stella Tennant and Lindsey Wixon.
If you have 20 minutes left, take your time to watch the movie here:
On the runway, Karl Lagerfeld presented 80 different looks for Cruise 2014 (below are my favorites). Shades of black, navy, beige and cream dominated the collection. The nod to the past in the shape of Coco Chanel’s iconic silhouettes such as wide-leg trousers, box jackets and pleated blouses will surely please the house’s customers.
In 2012, Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld joined forces to curate ‘The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s Classic Revisited’, which presented stunning photographs of stylish celebrities boasting their interpretation ofChanel‘s timeless and iconic black jacket. Over the last year, the book and exhibition were celebrated in cities across the globe.
Some of those photos were even the inspiration for Karl Lagerfeld’s artworkFire Etchings, presented at Galerie Gmurzynska in February 2013 in St. Moritz.
This year, a new expanded edition of the book will go on sale (Steidl, Göttingen, 2013, 280 pages. Available in selected bookstores, €78).
For this occasion, Karl Lagerfeld has once again focused his lens on twenty or so international celebrities and close friends of the House, including Keira Knightley, Diane Kruger, Carla Bruni and Carole Bouquet. The photo shoot took place in Paris in the couturier’s studio in January 2013. Taking time out from their busy schedules, the celebrities all enthusiastically reinterpreted the little black jacket in their own inimitable style. Once more Karl Lagerfeld illustrates the universality of the Chanel jacket, one of fashion’s most legendary and timeless pieces.
Here is a sneak preview of how stunning Diane Kruger looks in it:
The exhibition is at the moment in Milan and opening next in Dubai on April 27, 2013. For more information, please click here.
Keira Knightley recently wore Mary Katrantzou‘s Caramolengo dress in Venice. The British designer who is known for her amazing printsbelongs to my favourites. Yesterday, here in Milan, I wore the same mid-length silk printed dress.
My outfit: Caramolengo dress by Mary Katrantzou, glitter booties (the shoes of the season!) and oversized clutch by Miu Miu, watch by Roger Dubuis.

The cult of Louis Vuitton`s Stephen Sprouse leo scarf is a worldwide phenomena. It started in 2006 when Marc Jacobs made his first tribute to the artist, who had died at the age of 50 in 2004, by using the leo print the two had created together. An It-stole was born.
The first colour marron has become an integral part of every year`s collection, followed by other seasonal versions. Wrapped around many celeb necks, the scarf is bound to go down in history as one of the most famous of its kind.
Another historical moment took place last month in London when Louis Vuitton celebrated their new store on New Bond Street with the launch of 4 limited editions of their iconic Leo scarves. Only available in the British capital, they were sold out immediately on the opening day.
I know so many who were diappointed the last years because they missed the new colours. We do not want this to happen again! Here is the preview of the two latest designs for F/W 2010, said to be in stores around August. The statement piece was seen already on Margherita Missoni in Monte Carlo (see above). Always good to be friends with a designer.
So girls, who are not on good terms with Marc, get yourselves on the wait lists now and claws out for the new leo!
