During Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in July, one designer caught my eye: IRENE LUFT. I have loved almost every single piece she sent down the S/S 2015 runway. Airy, light, feminine, her designs made of PLAUEN LACE are breathtaking.
Based in Munich, Russian-born Irene Luft followed her mother’s tracks, a master tailor, and did her apprenticeship as a couture artisan. She graduated with distinction from the renowned German Master Craftsmen School for Fashion (Deutsche Meisterschule für Mode) and later from the Akademie für Mode & Design in Munich.
The most stunning detail of her work is the use of the famous PLAUEN LACE, a product of Saxon textile art, which has become a crucial part of every collection. The beautiful material was at its best in 1900, when it won the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Paris but fell into a deep slumber during the world economic crisis in the late 1920ies. As the first high fashion designer she revived and thereby somehow inherited the spirit of Plauen Lace, the tradition and know-how of a seemingly already lost part of fashion.

I definitely want one of her amazing lace dresses!

Believe in love, even if it is just the love for your new handbag and high heels… I am so thankful that I can follow my passion for fashion on a daily basis through my job, experience great moments and meet interesting new people on all my travels.
Here you see me leaving the Adlon hotel in Berlin during Fashion Week to attend the launch of the new coffee table book “Fashion Germany” in which I am also mentioned! All photos from the event will be coming up shortly…

The front row at Marc Cain‘s S/S 2015 show during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin was packed with illustrious guests from Hollywood: Hilary Swank and Marcia Cross were both impressed by the German brand’s designs for the coming season.
Marc Cain’s designer Karin Veit took the theme of her collection “Magic Circus” literally with an impressive ballet-acrobatic performance very “Cirque du Soleil” beforehand.
Later on the catwalk, flowers blossomed on coats, tiger heads reminiscent of the “Kenzo” ones showed on sweaters, tiny pockets à la “Dior S/S 2014” embellished cute little tops while pleats of orange and fuchsia translated the circus drama collection into easy, everyday pieces.

After only two days in Paris for Haute Couture, I flew to Berlin to attend the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for my first time. I was pretty amazed how many celebrities and great collections I spotted in the German capital. During the next days, I will show you my favorites. In the meantime, enjoy this outfit post. It was really hard to dress as the weather changed hourly, from crisp blue skies to pouring rain. A nightmare if you are having curly hair like me!
My look: Smocked cotton-poplin dress by Givenchy (50% off), suede and wooden clogs by Miu Miu, sky-blue Marcie hobo bag by Chloé, large pearl necklace by Chanel, Lady Excalibur watch by Roger Dubuis and Diorette ring by Dior Haute Joaillerie.

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin has taken place this week and the new CLA has premiered. Fittingly, it also stars alongside top model Karlie Kloss in Ryan McGinley‘s fashion film under the creative direction of Jefferson Hack that you can now see in full length at the end of this post. A striking beauty stands alone, surrounded by an imposing landscape, dark clouds gathering ominously behind her; she has two expressive and powerful companions, “her angels”, – a white horse and the Concept Style Coupé.
Karlie Kloss, originally hailing from Chicago, Illinois, has been setting the fashion world alight since her discovery aged 13. Walking for everyone from Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs to Louis Vuitton, she recently renewed a two-year contract with Christian Dior. She looks stunning in the short movie, wearing her pretty Chloé outfit in all white next to a mysterious white horse.
Live from Berlin: The protagonists of the F/W 2013 fashion film, creative director Jefferson Hack, photographer Ryan McGinley, top model Karlie Kloss and Anders Sundt Jensen next to the new CLA that celebrated its world premiere at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.
I totally adore Karlie’s new hair style and you?
