Miu Miu Valentine’s Day

Miu_Miu_Valentine's Day

Attention lovers! MIU MIU introduces a capsule collection especially for Valentine’s Day. The offering draws on the playful juxtaposition of different worlds.

Valentines Day Miu Miu

Miu Miu Cherry Bag

Cherries are the recurrent sweetly romantic motif of this quintessentially feminine collection, always coming, like lovers, in sparkling pairs and nestling on vivid green crystal leaves.

Heart Charm

Jewelled hearts also make an appearance and an exclusive logo – MIU MIUicon Loves – is applied to the madras leather styles.

Love Miu Miu

Purses suspended from palladium hardware, wallets, card holders, key chains and bag trinkets all feature in the colors of passion – black, ruby red and sugar pink – often with contrasting linings. Materials include madras and nappa leather with signature “cloqué” workmanship. Characteristically irreverent details finish each piece, among them more cherries, hearts and lettering in polished silver or brightest red enamel.

My Look: Cutout

Sandra_Bauknecht_Cutout_proenza_Schouler

It’s not what designers put in but what they left out which matters this winter season. Graphic slits transform the simplest silhouette into something dramatic. Who would have thought a grey turtleneck dress could be so tempting?!

My look: Shoe lace coat by Balenciaga, cutout stretch-knit turtleneck dress with fishnet body by Proenza Schouler, So Black Kelly bag by Hermèspalladium-tone, crystal and Plexiglas® necklace and earrings, both by Miu Miuicon, Elizabeth high heel leather riding boots by Gucci and Double C diamond black lacquer white gold ring by Cartier.

Remembering David Bowie in Fashion

DavidBowieTribute

One week ago, David Bowie died at age 69, just two days after his birthday. As tributes flood the media, the fashion world mourns the star who had the power to express himself through versatile ways of dressing, hairstyles, makeup, and performance. His shape-shifting styles inspired generations of teenagers and adults, especially in the ’70s and ’80s. He was the one who first empowered gender-bending androgyny and was a huge inspiration for the world of music and fashion. In 2013, the V&A Museum opened the “David Bowie Isexhibition with great success, which toured the world.

Enjoy this little tribute and see some looks inspired from his quirky and amazing style:

davidbowieZiggyAladdin Sane, 1973

US Vogue reports: «The Ziggy red mullet that launched a million imitators was inspired by a fashion shoot on the cover of Honey magazine of a model wearing Kansai Yamamoto. Bowie went around to his mother’s hairdresser, Suzy Fussey, who worked in a salon on Beckenham High Street, to do the cut and color. He was wearing it the day he walked into Brian Duffy’s studio to shoot the cover of the Aladdin Sane album in 1973. Celia Philo (Phoebe Philo’s mother), who was art directing, remembers the spontaneous moment when Bowie conspired with his favorite makeup artist, Pierre La Roche, to paint on the lightning flash

And here is how the fashion world got inspired by the musical genius in many ways:

saint-laurent-menswearspring-2014Hedi Slimane said once to AnOther magazine: «I was literally born with a David Bowie album in my hand.» Here some looks inspired by David Bowie from his men’s S/S 2014 collection.

David_Bowie_GivenchyTo the right, you can see one of the geometrically striped black and white outfits from Givenchy‘s S/S 2010 collection. It looked like a rendition of the one Bowie wore in 1973 during his Aladdin Sane phase.

miu-miu-fall-2012-David_BowieMiuccia Prada‘s F/W 2012 collection for Miu Miu was basically a remake of the 1971 music video “Life On Mars?”.

Gucci-Spring-Summer-2016-Berlin-Ad-Campaign-Featuring-Dionysus-GG-Supreme-Bag-2The same could be said for Gucci‘s S/S 2016 collection. I am convinced that the new Dionysus bag would have been loved by the legendary David Bowie.

David_tildaHere is a funny one: there’s a website of cult fans that believe Tilda Swinton and Bowie are the same person. Check out Tilda Stardust, it is hilarious.

His legend lives on in both industries, music and fashion, as David Bowie himself does today, in immortality. Rest in peace and thank you for all your inspirations!

My Look: New York Nights

Sandra_Bauknecht_Balmain_HMBalmaination_Party

New York nights are truly special. The city that never sleeps has that certain vibe that let’s you be full of energy. Here you see me leaving to the H&M x Balmain launch party. I wore this Balmain dress which is one of the iconic vintage pieces that inspired Olivier Rousteing for his designer collaboration with the Swedish fashion brand. I got a lot of compliments for it that night!

My look: Feather cape and embellished metallic jacquard mini dress, bothicon by Balmain, studded bucket bag by Miu Miu, suede overknee boots and earrings, both by Dior, Limelight Gala watch by Piaget and diamond ring by Vainard Fine Jewellery.

My Look: Amazing Lace

Amazing_Lace_Sandra_Bauknecht_Alessandra_Rich_Omega_Shanghai
I adore Alessandra Rich‘s exquisite gowns that are perfect for any black tie event. Not too long, in fabrics that don’t wrinkle, they offer comfort and great fitted shapes. This embroidered one with shimmering beads and Swarovski crystals is one of my favorites as the stretch-tulle panel elegantly references the season’s conceal-and-reveal trend.

My look: Swarovski crystal-embellished lace gown by Alessandra Richwhite «Duffle 6» bag and Janis leather pumps, both by Saint Laurent, Seamaster watch in steel with diamond dial by Omegacrystal-embellished clip-on earrings, both by Miu Miu and diamond rose ring by Piaget.

My Look: Eclectic

Sandra_Bauknecht_Eclectic_1
Eclectic describes a combination of many different individual elements of styles. Speaking in fashion terms, it means that you can put together several pieces that seem odd together, but worn in one look make you stand out. Never forget to pay attention to the proportions. One of the most important things when you want to look incredibly stylish. Great news is that you can do it with the clothes in your own closet. Get going, ladies and have fun!

Miu Miu – The Fragrance

MiuMiu-TheFragrance

Long expected! This fall, MIU MIU begins the sales of their first perfume Miu Miu. Miuccia Prada is a master of the counterintuitive, she mixes the common and the ultra-refined to create something surprising and knowing yet never contrived. Drawing on Prada’s inspiration, perfumer Daniela Andrier creates a study in contrasts. The focus is on lily of the valley flowers supported with floral notes of jasmine, rose absolute and synthetic green notes, as well as a special ingredient created by Givaudan, akigalawood, which develops the scent of patchouli, notes of pepper and woody aromas of oud. Unique, youthful and sophisticated, the new scent will surely be a bestseller.
