Dinner with Stress

Stress by Navyboot

Yesterday, I attended a dinner party hosted by Navyboot and Andres Andrekson aka Stress to celebrate the launch of their first collaboration, so-called SBNB – STRESS by NAVYBOOT collection at the Swiss National Museum in Zurich which turned into an absolute hot spot last night.  Among the small gathering of 60 guests, were Baschi, Bligg, Mousse T. and Jubaira Bachmann.

The sneakers for men’s only (Adrian, we want them, too, especially the croc version!) are inspired by the historic battle at Sempach in 1386 – a theme that has been reinterpreted for modern times and has been recreated as a picture on some of the models’ soles. The advertising campaign shot by Stefan Heinrichs has been staged as a modern version of the battle with Stress in the role of Arnold von Winkelried (see above).

SBNB

Just in time for the Christmas season starting in early December, they will be available at NAVYBOOT stores in Switzerland and Germany. Prices will range from about 129 CHF for the flip flops to about 498 CHF for the high top sneaker.

Navyboot Classy

Over one year ago, I told you already about Navyboot’s relaunch and their talented new Creative Director Adrian J. Margelist. For the previous article, please click here.

Today, we can enjoy the outcome. The Swiss company, that is expanding to other European countries now, has presented their F/W 2011 advertising campaign last week shot by Peter Lindbergh and starring Swiss supermodel Julia Saner and Patrick Petitjean. Below you can also find some of their winter must-haves like the Coucous bag and the making of video.
The collection captivates through its beautiful details, like purple stitching, colourful linings and for the gentlemen welt-sewn shoes.

Those boots are made for walking… and for admiration!

MSone

Navyboot MSOne

Logo MSoneThe countdown is on. Available exclusively via www.navyboot.com starting on the 17th of April 2011 at midnight CET is a collabration of superlatives. Top Formula 1 racing driver Michael Schumacher and Navyboot Creative Director Adrian J. Margelist have joined forces to devise and develop four luxury sneakers for men that set new footwear benchmarks in their materials, style and design.

18-carat gold, water snakeskin leather and polished crystals: welcome to Navyboot’s limited “MSone” luxury sneaker collection.

To put it in Formula 1 terms: these shoes are right on the pace!

MSone triology: Afternoon/ Night/ Morning

NAVYBOOT 2011 / MS ONE morningEach of the new models boasts outstanding material quality, with the leathers used extending from nappa calfskin to salmon, water snakeskin, pearly ostrich leg and karung, all combined with polished crystals and 18-carat-gold adornments. Sneakers have never shone in such exclusive materials before.

The whole upper of the new sneakers features clean and stylish lines. One unmistakable detail, however, is the hand-stitching around the tongue. Most of the lacing is concealed. The design of the sole combines the key elements in this limited collection: the Navyboot trademark artichoke, Michael Schumacher’s initials and seven stars representing his seven world championship titles. The metal colour of the stars embodies the car industry, and is applied by hand. MSone sneakers are a masterpiece of handcraft right down to the finest details!

MSone Starboot

The highlight is definitely the Starboot, the absolute eyecatcher in the new MSone collection. A high-top shoe made completely from red-dyed karung, the leather of the water snake. Seven 18-carat gold stars adorn its heel, while even the lacehooks have been lovingly handcrafted in 18-carat gold.

Navyboot’s New Creative Director

Navyboot-Margelist

This morning Navyboot held a press conference to announce their new Creative Director: Adrian Josef Margelist. The 34-year-old native Swiss has experienced success in that field. After launching his career at Vivienne Westwood in London where he designed the accessory line, he has worked for well-known houses like Fabric Frontline, Esprit and MCM. During those years, he has gained a lot of know-how in repositioning and relaunching a brand. This is exactly what he is aiming to do for Navyboot. The charismatic designer will be in charge for the new visual concept as well as for the product development. His first collection for F/W 2011 of shoes, bags and accessories (Navyboot`s key items) will hit the stores in barely one year. I am absolutely looking forward to seeing his creations.

Me with the New Creative Director Adrian Josef Margelist. He is wearing the YSL button as „a tribute to the master“. Love that!

He is envisioning a high-end product in the premium price level with its own signature. The handwriting should definitely be international which would help the expansion strategy of the Swiss house. Navyboot has just opened 8 stores in Germany and more are planned in other countries. I like the new course, it is fresh, dynamic and courageous.

The new S/S 2010 campaign, photographed by famous Michel Comte, is also promising.  With the emphasis on ballet flats, Polina Semionova, prima ballerina at the Berlin State Opera, has been the perfect choice to model the new collection along with Swiss actress Melanie Winiger as another unconventional ambassador.

I like the new wind of change that is blowing at Navyboot. No guts, no glory!
