Kate Perry is probably the celebrity nail icon thanks to her eye catching nail designs so it only seems natural that a brand like OPI collaborates with her. Launched this January, the collection has totally wowed me.
Inspired by Katy’s cutting edge style and latest album, Teenage Dream, there are four different shades, including a duo-chrome (Not Like The Movies), sparkly red (The One That Got Away) and two glitters (Last Friday Night is blue and Teenage Dream is pink).
Complementing Katy’s nail trend for OPI, a revolutionary Black Shatter formula accompanies the look to create a cracked pattern when applied over each dried bright lacquer. This special top coat is just amazing, check out how my manicure looks like with it below.
I am wearing two layers of Teenage Dream and one layer of Black Shatter.
By the way interesting to know. OPI is a 3-Free (no formaldehyde, toluene or DBP) brand since 2008. You can identify an OPI with the 3-Free formula by the green lettering on the label. Bottles with black text have the old formula. The Kate Perry by OPI collection is completely 3-Free.

I love the colour combination of ink blue and teal with grey. Those shades just belong together. The outfit above proves my theory perfectly:
The gorgeous grey dress by 3.1 Phillip Lim (€305.-) and ink-blue belted long-length blazer by Elizabeth & James (€430.-) look stunning combined with teal accessories like the velvet ankle boots by Maison Martin Margiela (£455.-) and the cross-body bag by See by Chloé (€305.-).
For daily glamour add a statement necklace like the crystal-embellished one by 3.1. Phillip Lim (€590.-) and a cool leather bracelet by Chan Luu (€175.-).
Indigo eyeshadow by Givenchy (one of my favourites) and the OPI “Ski teal we drop” nail polish will top off your outfit amazingly!
Feeling blue can be fun!

The OPI Swiss Collection for Fall 2010 will be in stores from August 1st and includes some beautiful shades. My favourites are the teal colour along with the shimmering blue. But I am wondering why there are so many reds, probably because of the Alpine country`s flag. I am living now in Switzerland since over 5 years and I immediately associate it with snow, so as for me a sparkling white is definitely missing.
I am always a huge fan of OPI`s names for their nail polishes. Please enjoy those for the Swiss edition. They are truly irre-swiss-able: I`m Suzi & I`m a Chocoholic, From A to Z-urich, Color So Hot it Berns, Just a Little Rösti at This, William Tell Me About OPI, Ski Teal We Drop, Diva of Geneva, Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous, Glitzerland, Yodel Me on My Cell, The Color to Watch and Cucoo for This Color.
But I am wondering why a reference to “banks” is missing. Here is my suggestion how to name it: U-B-S-ecrecy!
LoL, Sandra
It would not be Chanel if there was not a nail polish hype for Pre-Fall 2010. So here are the stunning Paris – Shanghai beauty products. The very limited-edition collection Noir et Or is exclusive to Chanel boutiques.
Very beautiful for the eyes is the duo Ligne et Ombre Jet Gold, a sparkling gold eyeshadow combined with a matte black eyeliner.
There are 3 different nail colours that can be layered or worn alone. I tried myself the new style French/Chinese manicure with Gold Lamé 440 (a satiny gold) andBlack Velvet 430 (a matte black). ). I applied a shiny topcoat therefore you do not see the matte effect. You could also layer Illusion d`Or 450 (a transparent sparkling gold) to achieve a more glittery shine. I got a lot of compliments on my art-déco inspired nails. Try it for yourself.
If you are not able to grab the Chanel bottles, a good match would also be OPI`s Dynasty Bling (gold) and Lady in Black (black).

It is the meterological beginning of summer today. Let`s leave it like that. Probably we can convince the sun to come out with this stunning look for less money. It is an exciting mix of plaid and print having that certain something.
The modern bustier dress emphasises the feminine figure and is marked down already at $35.50. You can keep the picture sweet with a heart printed boyfriend jacket, available at Topshop for £55.-. Another shot of colour like the red hot bag for approximately $65.- adds lightness and joie de vivre. The mint green shoes by Charlotte Olympia are a real splurge but so worth it, my advice wait for the sale that will start very soon.
OPI`s glitter nail polish with little hearts would match the look perfectly “Heart to Resist”
Do not forget it is all about that special twist. Sometimes the oddest ideas boast the best combinations.
Be brave and punch the air!

If you adore nail polish like I do, you will probably love the new textures: Matte and Suede.
OPI introduced the new look for some of his best-selling shades like “You don`t know Jacques” or “Lincoln Park after Dark“. The rich suede nail polish reminds me of accessories in the same leather. As suede is a trend material this summer, your nails are elevated to a new dimension of fashion. The matte versions I associated immediately with deep wall paints like the Flamant ones for example.

It is a different new look that you could wear easily for one evening. You can apply the colour five minutes before leaving the house as the formula dries very fast and the use of any base or top coat is not recommended. That is the good part about it. The negative side is that it won`t last very long. The problem is that the matte surface doesn`t like any hand cream or daily work. Nevertheless, you can apply the nail polish using a top coat and you will have the same shiny look that you are used to.
To sum up, I can say that it is definitely worth a try as you can use it in so many various ways.

Meet Heidi Kopp, store manager of à côté beauty treats by FAORO an amazing concept store in St. Moritz. The bubbly, charismatic former make-up artist with a great sense for trends offers a large variety of amazing beauty treatments, manicures, pedicures, conture make-ups and even tattoos.
The minute you enter the beautiful shop, you forget the mountains and feel like being in New York City. Luxury brands like Erno Laszlo, Dr. Sebagh, Révive are available along with outstanding perfumes from Annick Goutal or Bond N°9, just to name a few. A côté is a shop in shop at Faoro, the well-known St. Moritz clothing store.
My favourite is the cosmopolitan OPI nail bar where you can get your nails done at short notice. For me a côté is always a welcome change during my stays in the Engadin.
Indulge yourself and take a break from everyday life once you are up here!

After the mint green “Jade” phenomenon, Chanel is setting another trend for your finger tips and this time be early enough to get your hands on one of those bottles coming out in the beginning of the new year. The grayed taupe colour with a brown undertone named “Particulière 505” was featured at their S/S 2010 fashion show.
To be honest, Chanel is only confirming an already established trend by OPI. Their colours “You don`t know Jacques” (a dark grey), “Over the Taupe” (a beige brown) and “Parlez-vous OPI” (a greyish purple) are in the same colour family and existing bestsellers. If you want to cut down your waiting time for Chanel`s shade, opt for those substitutes.
I love all these colours anyway as they are soft, subtle and suit most of the skin colours and outfits well.
See you at the Chanel counter or OPI shop!

The moment Chanel models paraded down the Fall 2009 runway with mint green nails, I went finally crazy. It looked so cotton candy, reminding me of a mouth-watering sorbet melting softly. When MAC had launched their “Sugarsweet” collection last spring, their shade of green “Peppermint Patti” had been sold out immediately.
The same happend when Chanel`s Jade Nail Collection went on sale on Friday, Sept 11th at the N.Y.C. Fashion`s Night Out. Fashionistas grabbed every bottle they could get, probably as an investment. At ebay the little treasures went for up to $200.- (the retail price was $25.-).
In Europe, Chanel 407 Jade was only available at a few spots like Harvey Nichols in London. Germany or Switzerland did not receive it at all (but the cover model wore this perfect hint of shimmer for the november issue of German Vogue). How crazy is that?
Hollywood`s Eyebrow King Damone Roberts created with OPI his signature shade “Damone Roberts 1968” based on the wall colour in his salons (in Beverly Hills and N.Y.C.) and not surpisingly it was sold out fast.
For those of you that have missed the hype, I have some amazing – for your wallets utterly unique- suggestions to get a trendy green on your nails. Essie created for this winter a beautiful shade called „Mint Candy Apple“ and OPI have „Hey! Get in Lime“ in their brights collection. For the Zurich based readers, Beautyssima at the Rennweg has a wide range of OPI products.
If you think that you would never wear mint green nails, have a look at my way of working it. This outfit would look double-cool with it. But please do not start sucking your thumbs even if they will look so yummy!
LoL, Sandra
