This winter, there is only one way to wear your crisp white shirt: buttoned-up to the very top. The wheel of fashion is always turning. On the runways, there were lots of masculine references, the season is all about the suits. Designers are paying tribute to the working girls and to keep things demure, no more cleavage is shown. But no worries, combined with a cool pair of shorts, the look is more about sophisticated minimalism instead of looking all prude.
My favourites are the shirts with embellished collars (Miu Miu and Christopher Kane) that are now in stores.
Enjoy experimenting!

This weekend, I got invited to a friend’s house in Kitzbuehel, Austria. The flair and gorgeous interior design inspired me to write today’s post. Reminiscent of Ralph Lauren’s style, the whole house reflects an outstanding design philosophy in its clever juxtapositions of traditional artisan craftwork and modern timeless style.
Since 1967, Ralph Lauren has defined the essence of American style while elevating it to new heights of luxury. Proportions are chic and clean, fabrics are ultra luxe and textural and color statements are rich and striking.
Inspired by rustic Americana and with a little touch of the Wild West, my personal favourites are those one-of-a-kind bags crafted from vintage, Navajo wool blankets and leathers chaps. Wouldn’t they look good in this beautiful home?
Please enjoy your very exclusive tour through this very special private home.

While I think that mothers should be celebrated every day, it’s nice to have a day to be showered with love, affection and presents.
To all the fabulous fashionable moms around the globe, Happy Mother’s Day!
Outfit: Floral gown by Ralph Lauren Collection, embellished pumps by Valentino and embossed leather handbag by Chloé.

Ralph Lauren’s Collection runway S/S 2011 line is all about the Wild West! Fringes, bull’s heads, suede leather, everything you need to have to become lumberjack’s best friend or the fashionista of the prairie.
There is especially one look that I love. This plaid shirt combined with the ultra luxurious skirt. The unusual combination makes so special. It has this certain twist I am always recommending. The accessories work the same way. A casual crossbody bag worn with delicate silver sandals.
As the original embellished Ralph Lauren Collection Theresa skirt from the runway is a gem and has its price (Its beading is done in Lyon.), I suggest this gorgeous fringed Matthew Williamson skirt.
Anyway, this is an inspiration that you will certainly find in your own closet. Have fun exploring!
Just skip the spores!

For summer many designers focused on the midi length. As mid calf is for most women a critical point (you really have to be very tall and ultra-skinny), it seems all natural that the maxi length was spotted on many runways, too. Having a bohemian,`70s inspired feel, the creations were to die for!
Flowing maxi gowns ripple and float around the body, revealing as much as they conceal. Billowing slash-front skirts show off legs from top to toe, no tights allowed. This is sex appeal to the max!

Aside from the fringe that is coming back in full force (stay tuned for a complete trend report), crochet and macrame were big on the S/S 2011 runways. High-fashion designers were focusing on the delicate and intricate look with a certain `70s allure and even included the accessories.
Absolutely gorgeous is Stella McCartney’s “Falabella” crocheted tote from the Resort 2011 collection. This ultra-soft bag with its retro-inspired spin is the perfect summer carry-all, providing you with space and style!
I bought this treasured It-piece reminiscent of an Ibiza holiday gone glam at Salvatore Schito in Zurich who sell a large variety of Stella McCartney pieces. For further information please click here.

News is: Velvet has made its comeback for F/W 2010. The rich fabric has many enemies, are you one of them who shudder to think of a post-90`s revival? Please do not and give it a chance! You may be pleasantly surprised. The designers used velvet, preferably red and oxblood coloured, in many striking ways. Alexander Wang showed probably the best collection to bring the velvet trend out of the 90`s and into the now.
Dolce & Gabbana kept it classic and elegant with vampy red draped dresses.
I also spotted historical references. Ralph Lauren got inspired from the medieval era whereas Zac Posen and Altuzarra showed sharp cut 70`s style trouser suits.
Hopefully I was able to convince the velvet haters among you. And if not yet, consider that just one single velvet piece like a well crafted jacket can create a sizzling dandy look without going overboard.
Inject a bit of velvet into your wardrobe and signal your sophistication!

Summer is here, but fashionwise winter is knocking at the door. During the next weeks I will tell you all about the rising F/W 2010 trends. You will be up-to-date before the looks will be present in the fashion magazines. So enjoy the first one:
Spotted a lot on the runways once more were animal prints with leopard and ocelot up front! Add just one item to your wardrobe and your seasonal definition will be ensured. My absolute favourite is the stunning coat by Gucci, my must-have!
Among the accessories, the feline pattern appeared on shoes and bags all over. Just one piece of those will be enough to make a fierce statement! Let the prints do the talking and keep the rest minimal. A cheer for all copy-cats!

The hype started already in 2008 but this spring the Gladiator Sandals are still very up-to-date. It might be the combination of looking totally stylish and being very comfy during the day that makes them so loved. As the name already implies, these shoes were favoured by Ancient Greeks and Romans. Roll up your jeans and show your beautiful sandals or pair them with hot pants (wow effect!). My favourites are the knee-high ones by Belle by Sigerson Morrison available at www.net-a-porter.com.
The next days, I will tell you all about the most stunning shoes and accessories trends for the upcoming spring/summer season. Hope that you will enjoy it and get inspired.
