Louis Vuitton Heaven on Earth

Louis Vuitton’s men’s ad campaign for F/W 2020 was shot by my favorite photographer on earth, Tim Walker. I adore his surrealistic approach to photography, transforming every photo in a piece of art. Below you can read about the inspiration behind the campaign and the collection imagined by the Maison’s Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh.

Black Imagination: The transformative process of rethinking and overturning the inherited and often unconscious expectations tied to Black identities through history, and creating an encouraging Black consciousness for the present and the future.

The utopian idea of «Heaven on Earth» creates the framework for the Louis Vuitton F/W 2020 Men’s campaign. Photographed by Tim Walker, the images widen the collection’s surrealist lens through the metaphorical language of clouds. Applying his ongoing premise of Boyhood – seeing the world through the unspoiled eyes of a child, Virgil Abloh employs clouds as a symbol of freedom, unity and peace. Evading constraint, territory and possession, they are dreamlike bodies floating across a sky observed universally across borders and beliefs.

The title of the F/W 2020 collection, «Heaven on Earth» is an image of the core values embodied by Virgil Abloh at Louis Vuitton: a dream world that transcends prejudice as an objective to inspire inclusivity and unity-in-diversity through his work. It is underpinned by the overarching philosophy of Black Imagination and the continual imbuement of Black representation
within fashion, luxury and beyond. Shot in London, the campaign lends its platform to young creative talent from across the arts, featuring the likes of British actor Michael Ward and Ghanaian model Ottawa Kwami as part of its cast.

The collection studies the anthropology of the suit and the reprogramming of traditional dress codes. Virgil Abloh investigates the lifelong relationship formed by adolescent and young men with shirting and suiting in a material and figurative exercise in freedom, presented within the familiar constrictions of tailoring. The firm symbol of convention, trade and success, the tapered silhouette departs its corporate comfort zone. Twisted and turned, the dress codes of an old world are neutralised, re-appropriated and embraced for a progressive joie de vivre.

Isn’t it so impressive to explore how much work, inspiration and thought went into one picture.

Mulberry – A Breath of Fresh Air

Here is your exclusive preview of Mulberry‘s F/W 2014 ad campaign that has been released this morning. The British fashion house returned to its roots in the countryside with a blast of fresh air to invigorate its new and very British winter collection through the lens of one of my favorite photographers Tim Walker. Cara Delevingne is once more the face of the campaign and presents the Mulberry Cara Delevingne Collection, which is infused with her own style.

Mulberry has designed a beautifully classic and very elegant collection for F/W 2014 with argyle and arran-inspired knitwear and iconic Houndstooth and check, all influenced by traditional British tailoring, textures and prints. Even the footwear references two key British styles – the all-purpose rain boot, beloved by country-dwellers and city-commuters alike, and the quintessential lace-up brogue.

Tessie Small Satchel Soft Small Grain BlackThe F/W 2014 bags were inspired by the brand’s interpretation of how to make everyday life feel more beautiful, and how to make beautiful things practical. The new Tessie embodies the mood of simple, unfussy elegance and is among my new season’s must-haves.

The team stayed in a Scottish lodge and woke up every day to early morning mists, huge breakfasts, homemade shortbread and wild Land Rover rides across rushing rivers and up off the beaten track, arriving to a place of serenity and calm at the location for the shoot, with no phone signal, miles from anywhere and with not a soul in sight apart from the local gamekeepers’ dogs and a flock of sheep. One little lamb quickly became Cara’s favourite!

So cute! Such a great campaign and lovely collection…

MULBERRY has released its S/S 2014 ad campaign starring once more Brit model Cara Delevingne. One word that describes it all: Adorable! Celebrating tea time, the It-girl and her little animals friends were shot by no other than Tim Walker.

Mulberry S/S 2013 Ad Campaign

Awakening in a dream, Mulberry has released its new seasonal campaign, shot by my favourite photographer Tim Walker, starring model Meghan Collison, directed by Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and inspired by the ethereal colour palette of Emma Hill’s S/S 2013 collection.

The campaign features key looks from the new collection, showcasing beautiful, reimagined English tailoring, coats and capes layered over dresses and fresh interpretations of print design, classic outerwear and leatherwork.

The new multi-functional Willow Tote (see photo above in biscuit), first launched on the S/S 2013 catwalk, is a focal point of three of the images, a beautiful yet common-sense structured bag with elegant clean lines and timeless appeal.

A Forest fairytale, Mulberry launches its F/W 2012 campaign, shot by renowned British photographer Tim Walker in an English forest, with beautiful, evocative images that play on the romance and darkness of children’s fairytales.

The campaign features two giant furry, forest creatures and the gorgeous Lindsey Wixson, in her third campaign for the English luxury brand. Wearing key looks from the F/W 2012 collection, silhouettes are luxuriously layered, textures rich and contrasting and the pieces accessorised with Mulberry’s latest bag icons Del Rey, Maisie and the new embellished Alexa; Zig Zag Bag.

The campaign was inspired by Creative Director Emma Hill’s visions of explorers, dark fairytales and fantasy travels. I find the campaign absolutely awesome. Tim Walker is the best photographer to play with the idea of fairytales. He comes up with the right mix of darkness and romance.

A forest fairytale brought to life. As Tim said: “Ever since I was a little boy, I always hoped to see a monster in the woods. Now, we all get to.” I am on my way to Yosemite National Park, I hope that I won’t see one.

Dior introduces two new fragrance that belong to the house’s iconic Addict line of perfumes, dedicated to seduction, femininity and to style. “Having style, means having your own”, said Christian Dior.

Dior Addict is her perfume – her identity. She loves explosive colours – they represent her freedom. Oriental, fresh or floral, she has fun with all the Dior Addict fragrances.

The advertising campaign was shot by one of my favourite photographers, Tim Walker. The face is Daphne Groeneveld.

Haute Hotel: Kate Moss at the Ritz

When I stumbled across the new US April Vogue and this amazing editorial featuring Kate Moss showcasing the most beautiful of January’s couture collections at the hotel Ritz in Paris, before closing its doors for renovation, I had to share this with you.

Mulberry takes us to the seaside for its S/S 2012 campaign

Mulberry’s S/S 2012 season visits the Great British Seaside by way of the UK’s Brighton Beach, inspired by Creative Director Emma Hill’s memories of the English seasides of her childhood. 
This seaside scene was captured by one of my favourite photographers Tim Walker, starring models Frida Gustavsson and Lindsey Wixon. It is Walker’s third campaign he has shot for the English brand. I love the gigantic ice-cream scones and cupcake colours which are a huge trend for S/S 2012. Nostalgic and eclectic, capturing the Mulberry charm in perfection!
